PG Check In

How are you lovely ladies doing? Anything new to report?

I'm good, feeling larger every day. My ankles/calves were swollen for the first time yesterday evening, after sitting at a wedding reception for forever. My toes looked like little sausages!

We had our first baby shower today, work is throwing us one in a couple of weeks. It was so much fun to have friends and family over and spend time with everyone. Got a lot of things we needed, and surprisingly not too much clothes, which is good because we're getting a ton of hand-me-downs from my boss. So we don't need much in the clothes department.

Her movements are getting stronger everyday, and I love it! I'm definitely going to miss this once she's out in the real world, and I have to share her with everyone else.

My overly happy baby girl!

Re: PG Check In

  • 12 weeks tomorrow! I have been counting down to March 28th for 2 months now!!! I am telling my work tomorrow and Ben is telling his on Thursday. I am telling some friends next week and then going public on facebook.

We had our first OB appointment on Wednesday and everything looked great. Then we had our NT scan on Friday. Even though we have to still wait for the bloodwork, the doctor said the baby looked great. I almost cried with relief. It was so fun to watch the baby wiggling around!

I am getting an ultrasound next week when I am back home, then my next appointment is 2 weeks after that and then our anatomy scan is 2.5 weeks after that.

    I heart Ben!!

  • Doing ok here. The usual aches and pains. When I mentioned my back and rib pain to the doc on Friday, she told me to exercise, which I already do. Thanks a lot doc. I didn't feel much movement in the last couple of days but I think I'm feeling things this morning. Might have been the yummy Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice that I had though.

Yesterday, Rob and I did 4 trips from our old storage unit to our new one, which is 125 sq ft bigger than the old. Unfortunately, our old place wouldn't honor the new place's prices (even though they are the same company!! - makes no sense) and so we had to drive everything to the new place (about 7 miles away). We used both cars for all four trips and the two of us were completely exhausted by the time we were done. Now we have to pack up our spare bedroom to get ready for LO. I don't think I'm ever going to truly feel ready for her arrival.

  • Here goes. I fell again, down our steps. I haven't told anyone IRL because I am pretty embarassed since I fell already once on ice outside. It happened less than 24 hours after we had a new bannister installed. They are wooden and it hurt like hell.

I dreaded calling my Dr. and DH (he was by his parents doing plumbing work for them). When I got to the hospital I was a mix of emotions so was crying and red from embarassement and just felt like a horrible mother already. The nurse (prior to us even knowing if everything looked okay) decided to start cracking jokes about me not staying on my feet. I just stared at her with my big red nose and foggy glasses, it would have been nice for her to have waited until we knew if everything was okay.

Everything turned out okay thank God, and for pretty much four hours straight I laid there listeing to the baby's heartbeat and movements. One of the nurses commented that at 23 weeks it's not common for the heartbeat to stay up for such long periods of time, that made me feel soooo much better.

Also the baby gave one insane kick while we were in the hospital exactly when dh was feeling for it. That almost made up for the fact that since it was my second time in for a fall the Dr was required to ask about me feeling safe going back home. Poor dh, wasn't even there when I fell but was probably scrutinized by the staff.

I am still incredibly embarassed, I wasn't even rushing but I guess it is so true about becoming more clumsy especially when I was already a bit clumsy.

  • Such good updates ladies!!

*Mar* I'm glad you had a such a good shower. I laughed at your balloon story.

  • Oh Pooks!  I'm sorry you fell again!  I'm glad everything is ok!  You're not a bad mommy in the slightest! Did you trip on something or did your feet just get tangled?

Thanks so much! This is going to sound dumb but I can't remember. I think I simply slipped (fresh socks on wooden steps kind of deal) I don't think I even rolled my arch on the edge of the step (I've done that in the past a lot). I just couldn't catch myself in time. When I got to the bottom I swear I was in denial that I really fell that bad for like 10 seconds.

Today has been rough I am sore everywhere but the baby is moving a bunch so I could care less about the rest of it. I am buying new slippers today per dh's request that I am required to wear all the time. LOL

  • Doing ok here I guess. Just got a call that everything looked fine except apparently I have a urinary tract infection that I didn't know about? So I'll be on penicillin, YAY Confused Other than that, same nausea pretty much all day. I am living off of ginger ale. I need to schedule my NT scan next.

Pooks I'm glad you are alright. I am super scared of falling later on in the pregnancy, especially since I am known to fall into walls...sober.

Mar glad your baby shower went soo well =)

Whit, yay for almost being out

And Dani, don't worry you will be ready. Let me know if you need any help with anything =)

  • Pooks - So glad you and LO are okay.  I almost tripped over my cat the other day when I was home alone.  Luckily I caught myself on the corner of DH's dresser.  I should invest in some slippers too since we have wood stairs and I am always in my socks.

I am doing pretty well.  15 weeks yesterday.  I can stay awake a little later at night and don't feel as exhausted in the morning as I was but I am still very tired all the freaking time.  Had a great appointment on Friday and can't wait to find out what Snowflake is in a month.

A couple of the machinists have told me that I am showing. So I guess I look pregnant and not bloated.

I think DH is going to start finishing the basement so he can have his office/man-cave down there and his current office/man-cave can be the LO's room.  We still haven't talked about anything yet.  I think he wants to wait till we know what we're having before any big discussions.

  • Oh no Pooks! I'm glad everyone is alright. I'm sure they grilled you about what may have happened, but it does make me worry that you might be having BP issues or something? I'm sure they checked for that, and I'm just being a worrywart. Of course they asked you about your safety when YH wasn't in the room! If they did while he was there, there wouldn't have been any point to asking. When I was admitted while in labor, admission took FOR.ever b/c of the contractions, and there I am trying to breathe and she hands me the clipboard with the question about my safety written there, for me to check the boxes. So weird, but so necessary.

Well the first fall was on ice and definitely me rushing and just being dumb in general this one I really can't say. I would hate to have a BP issue, when I was at my last appt they told me my bp looked really good at each appt and yesterday it was okay at the hospital but I also know that doesn't alway reflect overalll BP so I will have to ask my Dr about it again at my next appt.

The funny thing about the Dr that asked me aobut my safety was that she had what I believe was a Jamaican accent. I had to ask her to repeat herself 3 times, and then I sort of laughed when I finally understood her. I know it was necessary and I actually wondered after a while if they would ask or not they had to have been waiting for dh to leave, poor guy.

  • Nothing new to report here, just registry stalking and invisioning a finished nursery. I have several things I just need to hit "place order" (fabric and art) but for some reason I'm procrastinating.  We went chair shopping and found one we loved, but it didn't come in the right color.

I'm glad the baby is okay pooks!

  • Pooks if it makes you feel any better, I can fall just standing on a step, without moving. This happened a few times (not pg) at my parents old house, I would be standing on the steps talking (carpeted and with socks on) and be at the bottom the stairs the next minute.

  • Aww Pooks, don't feel bad.. I'm super clumsy to begin with, and pregnancy is just making it worse. When I squat down at work to grab something, 90% of the time I topple over while trying to stand back up. I have clients see me do it so often, they've just started laughing at me instead of asking if I'm ok.

I'm glad you and pocket pooks are fine, if not a little sore.. and I'm also glad I'm not the only one who can't maintain their balance!

  • i always miss this post!!!!

im doing ok...definitely starting to hit the pregnancy wall though.  Work is so exhausting that it makes me want to cry sometimes.  Next week i will be 37 weeks pregnant and taking 8 toddlers on a field trip.  It's too much.  I just feel like all the women i work with worked right up until their due date, so i feel like i'm wimping out if i call it quits.  I may feel differently after this week though because one of my assistants is on vacation all week, and the other assistant only works in my classroom from 10am-3pm so i will be by myself a lot with the kids. we'll see i guess.

i go for an ultrasound tonight because the dr. couldn't feel where the baby's head was last week, and if she's breach, we need to start talking about a plan.  I really think she's head down, so i'm not worrying about it too much. I'm 5'7, she's still got plenty of room to move around Yes

    ok, enough whining.

36 week appt is on wednesday...so excited to be at this point!

crib is finally here and assembled!!! Mattress really doesn't go up that high, DH put the brackets on wrong at first lol and the bedding is pink and brown (lots of confusion came from the picture lol).
