richmond nesties - need help with furniture/floor/appliances.

we're moving into a house and don't own any furniture (except a living room).  My usual go - to is Ikea.  I'm not as interested in quality as I am in inexpensive price.  I've googled a little and come up with:

-Crate & Barrel

-West Elm

-Pier One

We're going to need:

-A kitchen table and chairs

-A dining room table and chairs

-Master bedroom furniture

-Guestroom Furniture

-Bonus Room Furniture (so probably a pull out couch, a tv stand, tables, etc).

We're also going to replace carpeting on the second floor with hardwoods so if you have a suggestion on who to go to for that, I'd appreciate it.

And the last thing we're going to need is a washer/dryer.  I don't care about those as long as they work.  Suggestions!?!?!?

Thanks!

Re: richmond nesties - need help with furniture/floor/appliances.

  • Sears scratch and dent near Laburnum for appliances.

Value City Furniture or the Room Store in Short Pump for inexpensive furniture

The Dump near Lakeside Avenue has incredible deals on furniture.

  • If you don't want to spend a lot, cross off every store on that list. They will cost an arm and a leg for everything.

I agree with PP about the store suggestions. You might also want to consider joining Sam's club (or Costco, but I'm a Sam's member). They have a cute dining room table and chairs for pretty cheap, fairly decent mattresses for around $400 and many other items. What they don't have in store, they may have online.

And Ikea is also not that far away, if that's your go-to store. They are located in Dale City, Va, which is about 90mins north on I-95, depending on traffic. The money you save by going there might make up for a truck rental, if you need it.

And of course there's always craigslist.

  • I agree with the PPs as well... plus, if you're OK with second hand items, it's almost yard sale season... You can always find great deals, especially in newer community yard sales!
