Where to live.

I have a potential job on the Kasas side of Kansas City. Near University of Kansas hospital. We are looking for an apartment/duplex/townhouse in the area around $700 if possible. Is that realistic?

Would be willing to commute a bit but the closer the better. Definitely dont want a "bad area".

Any ideas of areas to look?

Re: Where to live.

  • Hi! I know this post is kind of ancient and I donno if you've found a place yet, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I have been living in the KC area all my life so I know the area pretty well. If you are going to live on the KS side of the metro, I would stay away from the area directly surrounding the hospital, as it can be kind of sketchy, and it's just really busy and noisy! If you follow state line further south from KU, there is a really really nice area around when you get to like the streets numbered in the 50's, although I think it may be mostly houses. However, if you cross over to the MO side,  Westport is directly across from the hospital, and then a few blocks south of that is the Plaza. REALLY nice area and not too much of a drive from KU hospital. I know you can get a really nice 1 bedroom for about 500 a month. I know there are also townhomes, but I dont know the pricing, but $700 a month is pretty reasonable, even for a nice area like the Plaza. The only problem with the Plaza is that depending on how many cars you have, you may have to park one or more in the street. Some apartment complexes there have parking lots, but I know the super nice high rises don't. It just depends on how important that is to you. I think that would be a great place to start looking. Please feel free to PM if you need any more help. Good luck!!
