BR: Growth Spurt

I think G may be going through a growth spurt. She's drinking about one bottle more a day, sometimes two.  She doesn't seem to be gaining weight, just getting taller?

Here's my concern-all her jeans that used to fit are now falling off of her. That's what makes me think she's getting taller and thinning out (not that she needs that).

We really are trying to help her eat more/fattier foods and I'm sure our pedi won't be too concerned-but you know me, I'm a worrier.  I even checked back and she's only gained 3lbs in 6 months.  Should I bring her in for a weight check-just to make sure she's atleast gaining or would you just not worry. I can't help but worry about something and DH mentioned that he thinks its strange she still wears 6 month onesies, which has just increased my concern. I don't mind having a tiny peanut, I just want to make she's getting all the nutrients she needs.

I guess I'm just looking for people to tell me all is fine, and to breathe ;-) (Sorry for the rambly-run on sentences. I need to go to bed...)

Re: BR: Growth Spurt

  • Aubrey was 8 lbs at birth and is only 19 lbs now (she will be 15 months old in 2 weeks)..Our pedi is not really worried about her lack of weight gain..she is still wear a lot of 6-9 month pants like G. They did suggest adding lots of butter to anything you can put butter on (like butter both sides of the bread on grilled cheese), adding Carnation instant breakfast to her milk (which you can't do since she is on formula but they did have us do 3 scoops of formula to 5 oz of milk when she was G's age). I would say if you are concerned to ask your pedi for suggestions but I'm sure she is just destined to be a peanut since you and Jeff aren't very big people yourselves!

  • She is fine!  Natalie is a tall skinny girl, too.  She is also a picky eater, so getting her to eat more or fattier foods is really difficult.  Our pedi just says to keep pushing that stuff.  I worry, too, but I always remind myself that she is still growing and is healthy.  She won't starve herself.  You are a great mama :o)

  • How much does she weigh? I bet she is fine even though I am a worrier too and had the same fears with E. I think uts pretty normal for kiddos to look leaner as they sprout up and lose the look of "baby fat." E was still in 6 month clothes at a year and size 2 diapers- shes just a peanut! I think as long as she is still drinking and eating well you have nothing to worry about! :)
