Re: PG/Mom Check-In

  • I cannot believe that Declinn was born a year ago Friday.  I remember spending today doing anything but thinking about going to the hospital the next day.  I slept a lot and watched a lot of mindless tv trying to keep my mind off things.  I still can't believe how fast this year has flown by!
  • I have a kid story that doesn't involve my kids for today.  I was in Florida for a wedding this weekend.  I decided to leave my own kids at home.  My family was there, including my sister and her four sons.  At one point during the ceremony, the bride and groom were doing this neat tradition where they put a bottle of wine and a love note to each other in a box to be sealed and opened on their 5th anniversary.  Well, as the officiant is explaining this whole thing, my 7 year old nephew blurts out "What if they're not together anymore?"

O.M.G.  I wanted to slink down into my seat and die and he's not even my kid.

  • Kennedy is doing pretty well.  The Cardiologist put her on a diuretic last week to prevent congestive heart failure and to help her breathing, prior to the surgery.  It seems to be helping.  She's such a great and easy going baby.  She sleeps so well, in fact, I'm exhausted from trying to wake her up to feed her.  I talked to her pediatrician today and he gave me the okay to just let her sleep through the night as long as she's eating well during the day.

I have my 6 week postpartum appointment this week - I cannot believe that she's almost 6 weeks already!  I'm so ready to do it all over again.  H and I won't be doing anything to prevent it, but we won't be actively trying until after Kennedy's surgery.

Yay! I'm glad that she will be able to sleep longer now to give you a little break! :) The first time Zoe slept 4 hours I thought I was in heaven! She still hasn't gone longer thant 4.5 hours, but that's ok. One day she will!

When is Kennedy's heart surgery? I can't believe you guys are going to be trying again so soon! I think it's slightly crazy but also makes sense since you're already in baby mode. :)  I don't think I'm strong enough to do it. Plus I have to find a different job since I swore I wouldn't work at my job while pg ever again.

  • Zoe is doing really well. She is still tolerating the Pavlik harness like a champ. Our next appointment is April 14th so she is stuck with it until then. Probably longer though. :( I can't wait to hold my baby again without any equipment getting in the way. It's just fabric and velcro, but you have to hold her a certain way.

Since last night she has been eating every 4-4.5 hours. I could get used to this! I think I need to pump though because my boobs are not used to going this long without feeding and they hurt. I was too tired and half awake before but the next time she wakes up to eat I'm going to do it. Ouch!

At her pediatrician last week she was 11lb 9oz. She is getting so big so fast! :) I love her so much and I can't wait to have another! I actually miss being pregnant! I don't think H and I will try until Z is at least 1 though. I want to be able to enjoy her first year without having to worry about m/s, being exhausted from pregnancy, etc. Plus I want to give my body a break from the c section. If the next baby is close to or over Zoe's weight, I will just schedule a c/s since I know I can't push out a 9 lb baby. Ugh, I cringe at the thought, but I don't have a choice.

Kennedy would sleep 6-7 hours if I'd been letting her.  Watch - now that I'm going to let her, she'll get up every 2 hours...

Her surgery will be sometime in the next 3-5 months.  Her weight gain is really slow and they need her bigger and stronger to do it.  On one hand, I'm terrified and dreading it, but on the other, I want to get it over with.  I just want to move on with life as normal....or at least normal for us.

As for TTC - I have a few reasons for this.  I'm totally ready for another, had an awesome birth, etc.  But H and I also want 4-5 kids, and since we already have a child with down syndrome I absolutely want to be done having kids before I turn 35.  Our chance of having another with D.S. sky rockets after that.  I'm going on 29, so we don't have a lot of time...

Good luck with the harness!  My friend's baby had one and it was such a pain.  I hope she gets to stop wearing it soon!

Just because I feel like I complain a lot about Lily and my general feeling of being incompetent as a mother, I just want to say that my little girl is awesome. She's still just so sweet and so funny, and I love spending time with her. She's been really snuggly and full of hugs and kisses lately. Smile We had so much fun yesterday (Mondays and Thursdays are my days off) just doing rainy day stuff inside like coloring and whatnot.

Now that I've balanced my complaining posts a little, I feel better.
