it really annoys me when reporters called President Obama Mr. Obama or just Obama. he has a title and he earned it.
i will say that i dont exactly support President Obama, so this has nothing to do with me campaigning for him. i just think he deserves respect since obviously the American people felt that he deserved that role and that title.
i also find it irritating when in the same breath the reporter can manage to say "Former President Bush".
i just think its so glaringly disrespectful, it really grinds my gears.
what annoys you today? or any day...

Re: You know what annoys me?
Lately everything annoys me:) Here are a few highlights!
1. Josh's friend moved in with us temporarily. Long story short, his wife left him and they have a one year old little girl. He knows I'm pregnant and every other word out of his mouth is...."When K was pregnant, she ate this....when K was pregnant, she felt like this..." I know he's just trying to be helpful but I feel like telling him that I really don't care and I'm a different person, so shut the eff up:)
2. My office area is being recarpeted tonight. On top of clearing out my own cube I had to clear out a vacant one next to me which was stacked full of dusty books, magazines and old company signs. Nice.
3. The weather. I want warmer temperatures like now!

Just tell him to 'shut the eff up' and if he's taken back by it, blame it on the hormones!
Hahaha good call:)

Sorry to say, but what's really been grinding my gears lately is this board...
ETA: So wave your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care... *le sigh*

Also annoying me today are:
- People who ask for advice and then don't take it when you give it to them.
- The fact that there's a meeting going on in the room I have to walk through to get to the vending machine so I have to wait until they're done to go get chocolate.
- My head. It hurts.
people who can't grow the eff up. Two of my very good friends (M and C) just pretty much ended their friendship because M's H doesn't like the C's H. M's son's bday party is Friday, and she just "uninvited" C's H (said C is more than welcome to come), but that C's H couldn't.
I've been fielding emails from C all day, she's super upset and feel like she's being ask to choose between her friend (they've been friends for 10 years) and her H. I don't understand why people can't just GROW UP and stop being whiny little babies.
Were you watching Fox News? That might explain it.
Journalistically and otherwise, only current seated presidents are to be addressed as Mr. President (e.g., Bush would be known as Former President Bush), it's part of the title conventions.
However, I think the rules have gotten lax in general. I'm pretty sure that reporters just used the names Bush or Clinton back they were in office as well. Is it respectful? Maybe not.
I don't think it's meant to disrespect anyone in office (unless it's on Fox News, then it most certainly is, ha!), but most likely just grew out of the fact that they only have a certain amount of air time and it's a shortcut to drop the word "President."
I can see how you would think it was disrespectful and appreciate that you would like it to changed. But to me, in the grand scheme, there are bigger fish to fry.
in my opinion, the fact that our country lacks respect for our most important leader, is partially the root of a lot of our problems, at least as a nation.
additionally, like i said...if the reporter can spare the 0.5 seconds to add "former president bush", surely they can say president obama. like you said, the only person worthy of the presidential title is the president, while in office. so the fact that they can use the former title is a slap in the face to the active president.
fwiw, i also feel this way about doctors although you rarely hear someone speak about a doctor and not use their title in a professional setting.
My job is annoying me more that usual right now. I'm annoyed that the 6 months I have spent in Syracuse won't be helping me get promoted. Our performance review process starts in October and it didn't help me get a good rating or raise since it wasn't "counted" for 2010 and it probably won't count for much for 2011 since it happened the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011. I'm annoyed that I'm only a "lead" in a small project and someone else gets to be a the lead for the next project and they'll actually get to lead at least one person. Not only that, that person may be me. Which means I may have to repeat this "whole 6 months in Syracuse" thing next year! WTF
I'm annoyed that I can't be a SAHM or go part time if we have kids soon because of finances. And the only way to become financially comfortable is to get a promotion which doesn't seem very likely. I'm annoyed at myself because I can't seem to be successful at my job and keep getting screwed over.
Um...yeah. Except for the "fair" part.
Honestly tho...I wouldn't be surprised if it was just Fox News (and its affiliates) that dropped the President title. They take pride in slamming Obama (and the liberals) any chance they get and by any means. I saw a Fox News clip on the Daily Show two weeks ago, Bill O'Reilly was talking about how out of control and aggressive the protesters were in Wisconsin, and they showed a clip of a couple of guys shoving one another. Nice and all, but there were PALM TREES in the background. Yeah, not so much in Wisconsin any time of the year. Good reporting.
So yeah. Doubt Brian Williams is dropping the Pres. But again, it's not that big a deal to me. I take more offense by so-called "fair and balanced" journalists outright lying. Tho they are a good source for humor.
Dear JA -- Thank you for calling me down off the ledge... it was close there for a minute. And for that, I will forgive you for oogling my husband.
... I make no promises about the casual baby announcement tho.

Thanks ?
I'll have one for you while I'm at it!

My husband's job, for many reasons, but today its because he works with a bunch of entitled little brats with no work ethic. Seriously when did it become okay to tell your boss that you're taking a week off, the week before said week off. Didn't you used to have to at least request the time off first, with the understanding that the request might not get approved?
Also, I bought a different flavor and brand of coffee creamer, and its terrible and ruined my coffee. Terribly annoying.
Was it the White Chocolate Mocha flavored one from International Delight that's out there now? Because thats what I did, and it was the worst decision ever. So I feel your pain.

Funny enough it was the White Chocolate Mocha, but the Lucerne brand (Safeway's brand I think). I seriously wanted to throw up with every drink.
Close enough.
My friends had the Caramel Macchiato flavored one of the same brand, it was GOOD, so I went out on a limb... shame on me.
BUT I did find an Almond Joy flavored one last night and it. is. superb.

I think the Obama thing comes from the fact that the media and people in general view him as more of a celebrity than the president. That isn't to say that it's right or any less disrespectful, but somehow we've gotten too wrapped up in him being cool vs. being the leader of our country. It started during the election, and it hasn't stopped, IMHO.
Parents and field trips are annoying me.Iif you are a parent, turn in permission slips and money for a field trip at the same time! Sending in one thing and not the other is pretty f-ing pointless. It's also a whole lot more for me to keep track of. Also, always always send correct change!
Sorry to bypass the presidential topic; too much wine in my brain to give any valid points.
What annoys me: People who give me a hard time my son is on formula when I tried SO HARD to breastfeed and I'm proud I got the 5 weeks in. Not everybody has an easy time; people need to show some compassion.
My body: I have been in great shape most of my life (hence Fitnessgirl) but as a working mom I have no energy to do more then a 30 minute walk a day. I have a pooch; this blows!!!
