Ok, so I'm not the world's best housekeeper (but I try!) but my arch nemesis is our tiled shower w/ acrylic floor (at least I think it's acrylic).
I am so out of ideas on how to clean the grout (it looks pretty yucky at this point in areas) - I've tried soft scrub with bleach, no-fume grout cleaner from Home Depot, oxygenated bleach, etc to no avail. Does anybody have ANY idea how to get this grout clean!? I am so frustrated I am half tempted to call a cleaning service just to have them show me what they do and how they get it back to its original sparkling clean. The caulk is another story - that just has to be replaced, I figured that part out already.
Also, any thoughts on how to get the acrylic floor clean too? I have been using soft scrub with bleach on that to actually clean it, but it still has a weird discoloration (perhaps mildew but I thought that bleach should have killed it if it was mildew?).
Thanks,
Bella
Re: Our Tile Shower - grout problems... ugh!
No idea on the grout. I battle that constantly!
As for the shower pan, ours was fiberglass. Apparently abrasive cleaners will scratch it, and once it's scratched it becomes an impossible-to-clean dirt magnet. I've heard of people having good results with oven cleaners, but I didn't try it.
The house we're under contract on has a disgusting shower and I'm tempted to have to reglazed.
Our basement shower was all kinds of icky and nothing was working- not even straight bleach! CLR seemed to get the majority of it out the first time. I had to come back at it later with more CLR and actually scrub, but now it's sparkly again.
On the floor, Soft Scrub might be leaving a chalky film behind that discolors it. I would try a vinegar/water combo, and if that doesn't work, CLR. GL!
