We went to get a second opinion today at a vet my friend suggested. Turns out he doesn't think that it is her knee at all, it is her hip. He was feeling her knee and then looked at her hip and said that she had lost too much muscle for it to be only her knee. So, he did x-rays and turns out the head of her femur is necrotic (dead) and that is what is causing her issue. I got a copy of the x-rays and took them to my vet to look at, she was busy so I just asked that she call me. We will see what she has to say about her mis-diagnosis. I am soooo glad I got the second opinion.

Its good that your vet got back to you quickly and knows what to do now. She probably appreciates that you went the extra mile for your pet because vets know how important pets are to people and their families.
Hopefully everything goes smoothly!
Wow! That's wild that a dog can form a false joint!
I hope everything goes well with the surgery. Definitely keep us posted!
