Hi everyone, not sure if you remember me, but I posted about a month ago trying to find a home for a dog that I found. We decided to keep him! But anyway, I decided that I really do not like my vet, and I didn't like the last one either, so I am getting really discouraged at finding a vet that I like. I live in Mesa on Alma School & Southern, can anyone recommend a good vet around this area??
Also has anyone used a dog trainer that they recommend?
Sorry, another post about the dog, but I don't know where else to get recommendations, since I don't know many people around here!
Thanks!!
Re: Recommend a vet?
This might be a little out of the way but soooo worth it...
Caring Hearts Animal Clinic (Between Lindsay and Val Vista on Baseline)
480-545-8921
They offer a free vaccine to new patients and all the staff is amazing! Plus, they are open on Saturdays (which is great if you work FT like DH and I do). I take both my cat and my dog there.
Thanks! That one was on my list to look at. It's a little difficult to just choose a vet because they all have decent reviews and none of them list prices on the website!
The reason I want a new vet is because the one we are going to now doesn't seem to be interested in actually helping us, just having us give them money for surgeries instead of trying medication or natural remedies first... For example... $800 to remove a wart, which has gone away in a month with herbal extracts that we researched ourselves, and $600 for a teeth cleaning, which we resolved with brushing, medication, and various dental treats and bones as well as dry food. That's $1400 that could have been lost if they just cared to help a little bit more instead of filling their pockets!
i would love to hear your recom for a vet on my side

It's Arrow Animal Hospital...51st Ave and Thunderbird...actually right down the street from Banner Thunderbird. I called around when we moved to AZ, and they fit all my requirements of being open on the weekend, week nights, and they carried my cats prescription food. PLUS they had a sonogram machine on site (surprisingly everywhere I called didn't have one...my cat had bladder stone surgery so it was something I needed to have onsite).
Once we got our dog, we were there A LOT...he has horrendous allergies, and we worked with the vets there to figure out what was going on. They did a lot of trials, and other tests before we dove into the blood test. He was also a very naughty puppy, and has eaten MORE than his fair share of inedible stuff....they have always been so awesome, and never to quick to do x-rays. I am now on the search to find a vet in the Chandler area that will work with my dogs allergies, and allow us to order the same injection vials he has been on for the last 3 years that we adminster at home.
We love Dr. Willms!
I love our vet... they have always been really awesome to work with, and they always love on our kitties when we bring them in!

They're around Higley and Pecos.
We see Dr. Langhofer at Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic (Scottsdale and Thomas). We live in Chandler and are willing to drive that distance because of how wonderful the entire staff is. It's a great facility and they have very convenient hours (7am-11pm!). It was a little harder for us to find a good vet because we have rats and not every vet treats "exotics," but if we had dogs instead of rats, we'd still go to SVC.
Don't choose a vet based solely on his or her proximity to your home. I did this when we first got our rats. I was speechless and horrified as a saw the vet violate my little 3-month-old baby with a regular-sized thermometer! She squealed in pain, but he didn't care. I never went back to him and now I happily make the 30 mile roundtrip to SVC.
I love Dr. Wells at Tempe Veterinary Hospital.
For a trainer, we used Doggie Steps. He comes to your house and is awesome. Oh, and if your dog is a rescue, he gives you a discount!
