? on state taxes

Turbo Tax is asking me for the amount we paid for each of us health insurance premiums for 2009. I have the total amount, but nor what we paid for each person. I know last year, I called our insurance lady to get the information, but I've left her 3 messages/emails already this year without a response and I just want to get this done with. Can I just split the total amount between us?

FWIW, it changes our refund by over $100 so I don't want to do something wrong.

Re: ? on state taxes

  • I wouldn't guess. Try calling the insurance company's customer service or billing dept.

  • It's unlikely that you're paying the exact same rate for each of you.

  • No, don't guess on it.  But you should be able to call directly to the insurance company (skip the agent).  Customer Service has the premium info as well.  It would be the number on the back of your card that you use at the drs offices.
