Healthy apps for 1st birthday party...

Well for food. I'm doing snacks and apps for the party about 25-30 people and then we are cooking out with the family afterwards. I'm looking for healthier ideas for the snacks and apps. We already have a veg tray with hummus. Any ideas?

Re: Healthy apps for 1st birthday party...

  • Without knowing how much cooking you want to do or prep work you want to do the day of: cool veggie pizza (Kraft website for recipe), Spinach artichoke dip- you can lighten it up with lighter ingredients- with pitas and veggid dippers, corn/bean dip (small can corn, regular can of black beans & black eyed peas, 1 cup chopped onion, 1 cup chopped celery, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup oil, 1/2 cup cider vinegar. Combine rinsed veggies in bowl, in separate saucepan combine sugar, oil and vinegar and cook over med heat until sugar dissolved. Pour over veggies and marinate overnight, use slotted spoon to drain and put into serving bowl. Serve with frito scoops), taco dip (layer cream cheese, refried beans, salsa, cheese- bake until bubbly- lighten up using reduced fat or fat free ingredients), shrimp cocktail, asparagus wrapped in proscuitto.

You could go on hungrygirl.com and search her recipes- she has a lot of lightened up recipes for things.
