Are your rings soldered together?

Re: Are your rings soldered together?

  • Mine aren't soldered together.  I must be a weirdo because I rarely notice other people's rings at all let alone whether they're soldered together or not.

  • Nope.  Usually I wear my wedding band on my right hand.
  • mine are. it was more comfortable for me that way. i dont like them spinning independently either.

i dont think its tacky one way or another - just preference!

  • Mine are. I had to have my wedding bands custom made to fit around my e-ring, and it wouldn't have worked if the weren't soldered.  I also have times that I don't want to wear my e-ring, so I bought a cheap band that I wear at those times.

    This is my set:

  • Mine aren't. I didn't want them because on my e-ring the diamonds kind of wrap around the bottom and I was worried if I got them soldered together I wouldn't be able to get those diamonds clean. But I think the ppl on the ML board are way off on saying it is from the 70's, the majority of my friends have theirs soldered together.

  • Mine are, but I don't even wear the set right now. I'm wearing a different simple band now more than anything because of my job.

  • Mine are not.  I don't have a strong opinion on it - my wedding band is plain so it doesn't matter if the spin independently.  If mine was styled like yours, Kiz, it probably would drive me crazy to not have them soldered.

I do like having the option to wear just my plain band if I am doing something active and want to keep it simple.

  • Who knew such decisions were fraught with tension?  I'm glad I only have my wedding band.  The only time I take it off is when I'm working with bread dough.
  • When we got married we set my diamond into a new setting, so I just have one ring now.  I tried to find a matching band for our first anniversary, but I couldn't find one that fit right.  So, I guess I'm pretty neutral on soldering them together.  I can see why people might, but I can also see why you wouldn't (I'm probably leaning towards the "no" side just because I'd like the versatility).

  • Mine aren't.  And they are a lot like yours, Kiz, but I like them spinning.  And I'm getting a second (matching) band soon, so I want to be able to wear each piece independently and in different combos.

    how come? ::curious::

Mine are soldered together, we actually sent them in to be soldered about a week before the wedding, so I've never worm my wedding band alone. mine is similar to Kiz's except the e-ring also has channel set diamonds on it, it would bug the tar out of me to not have them even all the time.

Also, I never knew ML was such a mpls/st paul hotspot.

Me too.  I've toyed with the idea of adding a matching band on the other side of my ring (soldered together, natch!) but I can think of a million other things I'd rather spend $1200 on!  And even though I have long fingers it might get a little thick...

It's funny how divided people are.  They either LOVE or HATE to have their rings spin.  It seems there are no middle-of-the-roaders on this one!  Interesante. :-)

  • Nope.  My e-ring and wedding band came together as a set, but I still didn't want them soldered together.  I like being able to wear my wedding band alone sometimes.

I really think it is just a personal preference.

  • Mine are soldered.  I wasn't sure at first so I wore them for awhile and couldn't stand the spinning.  I also couldn't see myself wearing them separately.  I'm soooo happy I had them soldered.  They hardly spin at all and I don't have to worry about them being off centered.
