If you have a DSLR, come in
I am a newbie to DSLRs and have a Canon Rebel XS. I really have only used it on auto, portrait, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations on books or websites to help get me started on using the manual mode? I have read my owner's manual and that's about it. Or if you have a blog I would love to read it!

I bought these and they've been really helpful!

My amateur photo blog
This for understanding the principles of photography
I found the Magic Lantern series great for learning the functions of my camera. It is like a super expanded users guide with tons of helpful info. It has stuff in it that my user manual didn't even mention.
I have some photography tips on my blog but they are probably more helpful once you are more comfortable shooting in manual.
