phlox
I'd like to plant phlox in front of my house but those beds only get a couple hrs of morning sun. Anyone have phlox in a mostly shaded area?
Any other suggestions for my beds? I have hostas now and always plant coleus, but wanted to switch it up this year.

Which type of phlox? Creeping or garden? I have both from the original owners. They are both in part shade and they do OK but don't bloom as much as they would if they got more sun. The problem is the trees have grown and we don't have a sunny spot to put them.
Are you looking for annual suggestions or perennial suggestions in the shade? What zone are you in?

I have creeping phlox. Part of mine is in part-shade from the shadow of the house and part is in full sun. They seem to grow about the same, but the ones in the sun bloom more.
Liriope does well in shade and can be almost evergreen depending on where you live. Sedum is pretty low maintenance as well and certain types do well in shade.
I love varigated Jacob's Ladder and Solomon's Seal for shade. Also, look into Lenten Rose and some of the smaller rhodos that only get 2-3 feet tall.
