I'm seeing lots of home cleaning recipes with this in it. I have a nifty yellow stain from where William threw up a large quantity of movie theater butter popcorn on my beige carpet. Formula 409 carpet cleaner and Shout haven't done much other than spread it around. Can I get Borax at HyVee (Mills Civic or Jordan Creek in WDM)? or Target (Mills Civic in WDM)? Or other suggestions on how to remove stubborn carpet stains?

Re: where to buy Borax?
I have some if you don't want a full box. I think I must have gotten it at the mills civic Hy Vee.
Hydrogen peroxide is really good on organic stains like that and poo also.
And I don't think that movie theater butter popcorn counts as organic.
That yellow color can not come from nature.
Here are the recipes they sent out in case anyone wants them:
All-Purpose Cleaner Mix ? cup vinegar and ? cup baking soda (or 2 teaspoons borax) into ? gallon (2 liters) water. Use for removal of water deposit stains on shower stall panels, bathroom chrome fixtures, windows, bathroom mirrors, etc.
Tub and Tile Cleaner For simple cleaning, rub in baking soda with a damp sponge and rinse with fresh water. For tougher jobs, wipe surfaces with vinegar first and follow with baking soda as a scouring powder. (Vinegar can break down tile grout, so use sparingly.)
Carpet Cleaner Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray directly on stain, let sit for several minutes and clean with a brush or sponge using warm soapy water. For fresh grease spots, sprinkle corn starch onto spot and wait 15 - 30 minutes before vacuuming. For a heavy duty carpet cleaner, mix ? cup each of salt, borax and vinegar. Rub paste into carpet and leave for a few hours. Vacuum.
Window Cleaner Mix 2 teaspoons of white vinegar with 1 liter (quart) warm water. Use crumpled newspaper or cotton cloth to clean. Don?t clean windows if the sun is on them or if they are warm; streaks will show on drying. The All-Purpose Cleaner (above) also works well on windows. Be sure to follow the recipe, because using too strong a solution of vinegar will etch the glass and eventually cloud it.
Furniture Polish For varnished wood, add a few drops of lemon oil into a ? cup warm water. Mix well and spray onto a soft cotton cloth. Cloth should only be slightly damp. Wipe furniture with the cloth, and finish by wiping once more using a dry soft cotton cloth. Oh!! It's grease based. Sorry my mind was elsewhere. Have you tried dish soap and salt? Salt gets out DH's grease stains when he's a messy eater. Just shake it over the top liberally and let it sit for a while. It will soak up the grease. you might even have to add more. Then just suck it up with the vacuum.
Also put the borax in your locked cabinet. While it's mostly natural, it's still pretty toxic for kids.
