So frustrated

Do you remember about a month ago when I was upset because my health insurance changed my bc to a different brand, and I was worried it was going to make me tired again like one I took a year+ ago? (and, did you just understand that terrible run-on sentence?)

Well, I'm pretty sure it's happening.  I have been so tired lately.  I tried to run this morning, and I barely got through half a mile before I had to walk.  I am so tired today, and not like sleepy, like, I can't function tired.  I know this feeling, and I really don't want to go back there.

Of course, I can't rule out that I've been eating too much sugar, so for the next week or so I'm going to severely limit my sugar intake and see if that helps me at all.

And, to make things more complicated, I can't just get a list from my insurance of what bcps they cover.  I have to check each one individually on their list to see if it is covered.  So frustrating.  I guess I'm off to research what pills have what ingredients, and which ones are covered.  Grrr....

Re: So frustrated

  • Obnoxious!

Meanwhile, my insurance from the new job just kicked in on March 1, so this month was the first time I bought my BCP on the new plan.  My old copay under E's plan?  $12.  Now?  $40!!!  So E & I did a "WTF?" and I called my insurance company.

    Get this...

I take Yasmin/Yaz/Ocella.  I asked for Yasmin from the doc, and she prescribed Ocella because that's the generic and I'm sure she thought she was doing me a favor.  Fine.  Well, my policy has tiered meds, and Ocella is Tier 3, which means a $40 copay (out of a total $77 cost for the meds).

Yasmin?  Tier 2.  $15 copay.  For the name brand for the same meds.

    WTF?

So yes, I had the pharmacist change it in the computer, and starting next month, I get Yasmin the name.

  • Ugh, I am really sorry to hear that. Would you be open to other forms of bcp?

    So annoying....!

  • Ugh, insurance companies just don't make any sense. Period.
  • That is frustrating! It's like they're just trying to make life more complicated.

If they frustrate you enough, they don't have to pay for as much when you just throw up your hands.  My pharmacist actually told me to fight with them.

I would LOVE to be permanently...altered.  I want to, but most doctors won't even talk about it with my until I'm 35, so I have 4.5 years to go on that one.  I'm not really down with Mirena, or an IUD.  I've never had a problem with pills until the last two years.  I spent a year feeling crappy until my Dr pointed out that it could be my bcp.  So then she switched me, and all was great until this month.  I just wish I could go back on the kind I was on last year, but my insurance doesn't cover it.
