if you've ever gotten new windows
We had someone come to the house to look at our attic window and give us a quote on a new one and the labor to install it. He said $350. Does that sound reasonable? I have no clue.
Re: if you've ever gotten new windows
Very reasonable (depending on the cost of the window)--windows can run the gamut of quality/materials/sizes. If its an all vinyl window, it is probably in the 100-200 dollar range. (You could ask the contractor to give you the price of the window itself, then shop around online for the same thing to see if he is marking up or if you can do better elsewhere).
Also, is your husband handy? Installing one yourself isn't all that hard, and you can probably save at least a hundred bucks in labor.
We just had all our windows (11 total) done including new interior molding, a door removed and a sliding glass installed for around $9,000. I think it was around $375 per window excluding tax. That being said $350 sounds good/average.

Seems like a reasonable price. Double-hung windows range in price from about $50 to well over $200 (not counting labor), depending on the size of the window, how many panes of glass, casing material, etc. If you have a specialty window (shape, different opening style), the prices only go up from there.
We had all of our windows replaced, as well as the exterior doors about 2 and a half years ago. We opted for the more costly triple-paned, krypton-filled (the gas that fills the space between the panes of glass), vinyl windows. We spent several thousand dollars for the removal/disposal and replacing of 15 double-hung windows, 1 casement window, 1 bay window w/ 2 small double-hungs, 2 doors, 1 sliding door (non-standard size). I think the windows themselves averaged out to about $400+ each. Don't remember though.
I'd call around and get a few more quotes though!
