D-bag Professor update

If you take a look at my TPT post you can get the back story. But after an email I received last night, I arranged a meeting with the head of the department to discuss this guy.

All this guy had to do was say, "Thank you for the comment, I will take that into consideration when planning my next class" and this would have been all done. Instead he chose to get into a pissing match with me and in his final email he cc'd the head of the department saying that he was going to discuss my progress on the weekend. Um ok. So I emailed her last night requesting a face to face meeting today, which she agreed to. I also have printed out all communication between him and I and some of the responses that he has made. My favorite that documents how unprofessional he is, is when asked for more grading week to week, part of his response was this:

"On the other hand, I am sure you are aware that this is not a full time job for anyone involved and there is a practical limit to how much we can do given the meagre pay we get and the number of hours in the day!"

I'm sorry, if you are not happy with the pay and work load you shouldn't be teaching there. Find another gig, don't complain to the students you are PAYING YOUR SALARY.

Wish me luck. Oh and pray that my hormones don't get in the way and I bust into tears. That tends to happen when I get really fired up about something.

Good Luck! I hope something good comes from it.

It's important for the administration to hear that kind of thing. My second term ended two weeks ago and in the end of course survey I told them that the one professor was useless, that it seemed like he didn't care if we learned or even if we were participating. I explained that it was a waste of my time and tuition dollars. One of the guys on my team actually called the program chair and gave him a rundown of our experience. He's a tenured professor, so I doubt it'll change much of his approach, but maybe they'll pull him out of the online setting since it doesn't seem to work for him.

Oh Aleesh.. I'm sorry! I missed yesterdays' post.  I went back to read it just now.  I would have killed him myself.  During DH's time in the PhD program he had those professors.  They were awful.  It seemed every single one of them sat up on their high horse and refused to think anything they said or did could be wrong (also I think they feel like they have to "pay forward" what was done to them during school).  Had it now been for his advisor wanting him to do things her way, he could have actually finished his PhD (he finially just took his masters), and finished a lot sooner. She never took him seriously and he finally got sick of it and just checked out. His comittee members were just as bad. 

  I hope your meeting with them went ok today, and maybe he listened to her.  I hope you at least leave the meeting feeling a little bit better.  If not I'm sure Mar's bat could find it's way to you

Good luck!!  I hope that something will happen and he'll change, or at the very least, apologize.

I'm trying to push my sister to complain about a teacher that she has.  She got marked off on a test for writing a letter in a way that he thought was inappropriate.  I think she made a cursive T instead of a printed one and he marked her off.  I told her not to let him get away with that and she won't say anything.  There is absolutely no reason for profs to be d-bags just because they think they can.
