Root Vegetable Storage Bin

Anybody have one? Did you make it or buy it?

I'm eyeing this one, but I'm thinking I could save a few bucks by making my own. Any advice for me?

I've read you can do this by burying a trash can.  Maybe a bit more work, but probably cheaper and holds a lot more.  I keep meaning to try to find a corner in the garden for a couple of them since we might need the food if (when) we're struck by an earthquake.
