Cupcake trucks

Have you tried any of the cupcake trucks in the area?

Cap region - Betties, Coccadotts, Sweet Temptations?

I've had Betties from their bus and I think they are in Colonie Center too... not bad.. but a little bit of sticker shock.

Just curious if you've tried any, how they compare, what you think..

On a side note, I had a "gourmet" cupcake from Price Chopper recently - it was cheap - and awful.  Stale (or if anything, dry), poor flavors.. no comparison.

Re: Cupcake trucks

  • Since Coccadotts and Sweet Temptations are close to work I've had those before.  I've also had Betties a few times too.  They all seem to be a little high in price but taste the same.  VERY SWEET.  I can only take those in small doses and usually need to split the cupcake and only eat a part of it because it's too rich.  I didn't really see a difference in price or taste in any of the 3.

I tried the Price Chopper gourmet cupcakes once.  M and I split one and we wound up throwing most of it away.  It was a little stale and not even close to those cupcakes.  It had pretzel pieces on it that were gross because they were stale.

  • Rachel of CoccaDotts is my cousin and I've had her cakes but no cupcakes (boo for living out of state!) I love gourmet cupcakes (we get DC Cupcakes in Georgetown every couple of months). Pricey but worth it for a delicious baked good. I have no problem paying more money for any other "specialty" item and I definitely think it's money well spent if you want a delicious dessert. :)
  • My mom got Coccadotts' cupcakes in addition to my cake for my baby shower - yummy! Had Betties @ Colonie Center - loved their vanilla frosting, but thought the cupcake itself was really dry. Haven't tried Sweet Temptations yet - they're up the street from my parents', but I never think of stopping there when I go by.
  • Bettie's cupcakes are always stale at Colonie! I had some sent to me when my grandmother died and they were delish, so I think the ones at the mall just sit around forever, yuck.
