I am coming to Chicago 6/17-19th. On the Saturday my husband is meeting some his friends to see the Cubs/Yankees game... I'll prob be on my own from like 1ish-to 10ish.
I obviously do not want to spend the day sitting in the hotel alone so I am looking for things to do. I was thinking of doing the Field Museum during the day, but I am at a loss for what to do from 5-10ish. I was gonna see a show, but there is nothing that really interests me. ( I am spoiled being from NJ and having Broadway 45 min away with many choices)
I guess I could just do a movie, but that is something I do at home all the time so it isnt a first choice. I am not a fan of going to a bar by myself... I will get bored so fast.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Re: NJ nestie looking for travel suggestion
Check out Steppenwolf for live theatre. Or a comedy show at Second City. IMO you can't get either in any other city - even NYC.
I wouldn't spend a gorgeous day inside. Take a trip to Navy Pier, shopping on Michigan Ave (just be forewarned our sales tax is in excess of 10%). What are you doing for dinner? Find a cute cafe outside, bring a book, enjoy your meal and drinks outside. People watching can be great depending where you are.
Just be aware that near Wrigley will be INSANE esp during the Cubs/Yankee game. I would stay away from that area if at all possible. But Sondre Lurche is playing at Schuba's Sat night if you wanted to see him -- I'm going Sunday at Lincoln Hall because I hate cub game nights.

You could do a boat tour and sign up for the tour time so that you'll be on the boat at the time of Navy Pier fireworks show. It's a fun experience.
You can find the tour times on Navy Pier's website.
