Mommas Check In

What's new? How is everyone?

Kiley is good, besides this horrible cold we've both been fighting since last Monday.  She got up her knees a few times, so we are still waiting for the crawl!

Re: Mommas Check In

  • We're good here. We had my friends from Delaware come by yesterday (they stopped on their way back to DE) with their 6 month old and it was fun watching Campbell watch her and try to play with her. He wasn't overly interested but it was still cute.

We went out to dinner last night and that was nice, we don't do it too often but he was very good. He's such a busy body so he kept turning around and looking at people walking by and smiling at them.

  • Avery has started with her waking up screaming at 1130 & 530... damn teething! I'm guessing this is what it is. She'll take a bottle and go right back down. She does it every 2months or so and lasts for about 2 weeks.

She's pulling up like a champ and can walk with her pullup toys. She's attempting to stand on her own. It's quite commical and scary at the same time.

  • Everything is still pretty much the same here, except for she has seriously turned in to a little parrot and repeats literally everything we say. It's hysterical, but man we really have to watch our mouths now.

  • After a week of teething, Jacob has 1 or 2 top teeth just barely cutting through. It's amazing, but he woke up his old self yesterday and there they were -- tiny little white spots. I feel like it must hurt more when they're making a hole through their gums, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
  • Jordan was one of the top readers for 3rd grade last quarter so he will get a medallion at the awards ceremony tomorrow. He reads like crazy. He's finished all of the Harry Potter books already and keeps talking about going to see the last movie at midnight when it comes out. I think not going would break his little heart but I'm worried it'll be too dark and gory for him.

  • I think Xander is starting to have his two year molars work through now because he's drooling all the time again. He is also in this phase where he whines, screams and cries for no reason. I'm hoping it is because of his teeth, but man I can't take it anymore. He said juice for the first time on Saturday. I can't believe how quickly he is building a vocabulary.

  • Riley is pulling up to her feet, now, we have to keep her in sight at all times because she'll stand, let go, then get really excited about letting go, flail her arms around, and fall over. In the last two days she has started petting anything fuzzy (my coat, her snowsuit, stuffed animals) and mimicking the two-syllable inflection we use when she's petting Buster and we tell her "gentle" (it's very sing-songy and adorable). She also started saying uh-oh when she drops things. It's rather nice because about half the time she says it before she drops the thing and we can grab it lol. She also just figured out the ball popper and it's all I hear all day long.

Oh also I ordered her birthday invites last week Crying

Is the ball popper the one she pushes around or the one that you hit the button and they fly up and go down a tube again? We have the second one and it drives me nuts after 30 minutes of Xander hitting it.

    Umm...1 already? That flew by!

  • Duncan had his follow up for his ears today and he got a clean bill of health. He is "talking" up a storm. His favorite words are uh-oh, momm-mama (says them together), da-da-da (always three times) and kee which his word for Puck. He's just started standing on his own but falls or grabs on to something, loves to cruise on the furniture, and is eating like a champion!

I'm doing ok, but I'm starting to get sad--Jim leaves on Thursday for Virginia. We won't all be together for about a month when Jim comes home for Dunc's birthday. We plan to skype a lot (especially for Dunc) and I hope I can get everything done on my own.

  • zoey has been much better. still a bit whacky but definitely much better.

as for me, i am having a pretty rough time emotionally. our friend's sister passed away last week 4 days after having her first baby.  our train was delayed friday night/saturday morning coming back from the city because someone laid on the tracks and got hit by the train in front of us. then on sunday we passed a motorcycle that got into an accident and saw pieces of it all over the street with the motorcycle still on top of the guy.  all that with my hormones STILL being all over the place and i have been pretty down these past few days.  i am trying so hard to be positive and think about all the great things but i can't deny that the thought of that little baby, her poor husband and family don't consume my thoughts constantly.

It's the Playskool one that pops the balls up in the air. It doesn't even matter if there are balls in it, she just sits there and hits the plunger over and over. Although it is pretty cute because every time the music starts she does a little dance lol, but I swear I hear it in my sleep.

  • thanks :( yeah it's extremely sad and i can't.stop.thinking.about.it.

i don't really want to get into too much detail because i don't want to freak anyone out (especially the pg girls).  it's such a rare, unheard of thing (for today's society, at least) and i don't even know how something like this could happen.  it's just so inconceivable to me.  i have pain in my heart for them.  everytime i look at james and zoey all the thoughts start back up again.  i am in a major funk.

That's the one we have, and I feel your pain! Xander dances to the music too. Has she started putting other toys into it yet? Its fun trying to get stuff out of it.
