I need garden dirt, delivered

any suggestions of where to go? DH thought maybe Roark's. We're going to be adding some square foot garden beds and thinking it would be cheaper to get a bunch of it delivered than buy a bunch of little bags.

Re: I need garden dirt, delivered

  • I don't know about delivery, but have you thought about renting a truck by the hour?  Then you could pick up your own dirt.

My husband has gotten the Home Depot truck on several occasions to haul yard stuff.  I don't know where you live, but I think the Ace Hardware in Allendale might rent trucks by the hour too.

  • Hmmm that's a thought. We live in Jenison. Will have to do the math. Thanks for the idea :-)
  • GRSP got soil delivered to her house last year or the year before last. Hopefully she will pop in and give more info.
  • A lot of garden centers & landscape supply places have topsoil & will deliver it.  We have a few near us so I collected phone numbers, called & compared prices.  Granted, we were doing woodchips/mulch instead of soil, but it was only $10 more to have it delivered to our driveway than to buy in bags where it would've taken either two trips or both cars to bring home enough bags.
  • Harder & Warner will deliver.  Not sure if there will be an add'l fee based on how far you are from them.  They are on Broadmoor south of M-6.

I have no idea... the house next door was being flipped, and a guy came to drop off some soil.  I asked him if he was going to be making another trip.  He was.  I gave him $5 he left a mound of dirt in my driveway.
