I am totally obvilious when it comes to gardening and knowing what works for our yard. DH and I decided that it would probably be best that we hire someone to come out and help us get a really nice garden started in our backyard and to revamp the front. We have these huge bushes by our front porch that have gone unmantienced for awhile. Well, this weekend I hacked one of them to death. Like I said I don't really know much about gardening. Anyways, I'm looking for reccomendations if anyone had someone come in and help them out. We would like to keep it fairly cheap ($200-$300) with plants included. TIA!
Re: Landscaping
Yikes, girl. Landscaping is not cheap AT ALL. We had several someones give us estimates for our front flower bed at our old house - just a small little flower bed - and the cheapest estimate we got was $3k. Yes, I nearly died.
What we ended up doing (and we have done this at our new house as well) is took pictures of the area we want to change. We took several sets- morning, noon, and dusk. We took the pics to Marcum's nursey and they drove us around in their little golf cart and pointed out the shrubs/flowers that would work best. They were so so helpful and even though DH and I DO NOT have green thumbs - the plants lived! I was totally shocked.
As far as trimming your bushes, I have someone I can recommend that will probably do it for around $100 - but as far as landscaping and flowers for around $300 - I don't think that is possible. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
This sounds like a great idea! Thanks!
I think we are just going pull the bushes out since they require so much maintence. I'm a low-maintence kind of girl. I would like to plant them in the back but I don't think they would survive.
There are quite a few really great low maintenance bushes that do well in Oklahoma - no rain, lots o' sun. I have no idea what they are called but we have planted them everywhere. We are SOOOOO lazy when it comes to yard stuff.
Also, Marcums is a big more expensive than Lowes, but we have found that Marcum's plants are of better quality and they are often much more mature (which is a good thing).
Good luck, lady!
