Hi Virginia nesties! I'm Nicole and am pretty active on the Atlanta board (and lurk on What's Cooking and Health & Fitness) but DH and I just moved to his hometown of Roanoke, so I wanted to introduce myself here as well.
Is anyone else in the Roanoke area?
I'm also looking for a lot of local recs. Eventually I'll need all of the just-moved-here kind of stuff, but right now I'm especially looking for a salon (I desperately need a hair cut!) and an orthodontist (bonus points if they are especially good with TMJ issues). Any other recs would be appreciated as well - restaurants, doctors, dentists, activities, etc.
Thanks!
Re: Intro and Roanoke Recs
Welcome to Virginia! It can be kind of slow around here sometime because we are all spread out across the state, but stick around.
I'm in Richmond so I can't help out with any recommendations for you, but I hope you like the area! I love the mountains in Virginia and would like to live out there, but I love my city life more.
I look forward to getting to know you better in the future!
Hey! I'm in the Roanoke area
I go to Onyx Salon in Salem, VA which is about a 20 minute drive for me. I really like it and a lot of my friends (and husband! haha) go there as well. We all go to different girls and are happy so I don't think you can go wrong.
I've only been to an endodontist over here so I don't know any good recommendations for orthodonists. Our favorite restaurant is a Mexican place downtown (Alejandros). Hm I'll think of some other places to recommend.. but welcome!
another roanoker here! and welcome to the area!
i don't have an orthodontist rec unfortunately, but i do like my salon- salon at studio e on peter's creek. shannon (the owner) is one of the very few stylists who have ever been able to do anything with my very thick hair.
i'm happy to offer any other recommendations that you may need later. we do have lots of great local restaurants and so fun local activities (especially if you are into the outdoors). again, welcome!
