I am wondering if someone might be able to help me come up with a menu plan for my sister's baby shower. I have never hosted a party before, so I'm clueless about how much food to prepare, ect.
I was thinking mainly apps and sweets since the party will be at 1:00 pm. There will be about 30-35 women attending. TIA!
Re: Baby Shower Menu
I'm not sure how much you should make, but being that the shower is at 1pm, that's still in the realm of lunch in my mind, and I'd hope for lunch if I was a guest. I still think appetizers are fine, as long as they are filling apps.
Maybe these links will help?

If it's at one I think people will be hoping for lunch. I agree with pp that heavier apps would work.
Another idea would be to do some apps, a few more lunch like things (green salad, fruit salad, sandwiches, pasta salad) and sweets.
I'm going to have to agree with PP on the meal.
I've been to baby showers where we were served lasagna, green salad, and rolls.
At one shower it was homemade and at the others it was frozen. All were good.
Hope this helps.
Guests will definitely be expecting lunch. I would go for Ham Buns (20), Turkey or Chicken Salad Croissants (20) and possibly Veggie Pinwheels. To that I'd add a potato and/or pasta salad, cheesy hashbrown casserole, fruit/veggie platter and maybe 2 sweet platters. Possibly you can get your mom and another person to make a dish each so you dont need to make so much yourself.
The only thing guests look forward to at a baby shower is the good homeade or catered food! We have 1 aunt that coordinates almost all the showers in our family and this is typically the menu, with 30 women all this food is usually about gone by the end.
You can assemble the sandwiches the day before, as well as the pinwheels, salads and casserole so that all you need to do is put it out right before/as guests arrive.
