tuesday. obviously (as stated for every last tuesday since we all became internet friends) this is the worst day of the week.
its rainy and foggy here. as it was last night. i skipped the gym, went home to relax and rest and take care of my sick man and slept like a log on my new bed again.
running hopefully 3.5 today and then home to make dinner for some friends.
QUESTION for y'all domestic divas--dust ruffles/bed skirts--do this go on top of the box spring or under it (so it would only cover the frame)? i feel like it goes on top of the box spring, but our box spring is so big, i think it will only cover the box spring and not the distance from the bottom of the box spring to the floor...?
Re: what the what
It goes on the top.
Tuesday. Hate.
My eyes are watering like faucets. This is new, I usually do not have this allergy issue until September. It is so freaking humid out. I slept well when I did sleep. Gus was up jacka$$ing around.
Last night I went home, ate while watching Army Wives, made salads for lunch and cut up fruit, threw a Mexican type chicken soup in the crock. I did two loads of laundry, packed my gym bag, and picked up around the house. MIL dropped my external hard drive with wedding pics off and stayed a little.
She was talking about being short for bills since FIL got laid off, and how she isn't going to do a big Easter dinner. We did not offer to host so +50 for MFD on that. I think we are doing nothing at all on Easter Sunday, which is what I really wanted to do. My dad and stepmom are going up to her parents' since her dad is still recovering. We will see my mom's family that Saturday. I hope it's nice and I can sit out back and read, we can take the dogs to the park, and I can do some planting on Easter.
I have instituted a personal spending moratorium until June 1, and am also determined to eat the food we have before I buy more (with the exception of produce and milk, my Royal Wedding Party fare, and whatever we're going to make for Easter dinner. I want to get out of the ham box this year and maybe grill.
Definitely wouldn't call myself a domestic anything (:-P) but the dust ruffle goes on top of the box springs.
This morning is dragggggging by! It's rainy and gloomy and all I want to do is sleep, but I had to be up and at work by 6am for a meeting. Barf. I'm looking forward to Zumba after work, though - only good thing about Tuesdays!
Dust ruffle on top of box spring.
I chopped off all my hair last night. Well, not all of it. I'll post a picture later.
So much for work being quiet yesterday, I ended up working from 9PM til 1AM because of something that was due at close of business on the opposite side of the world. And here I am anyway! I should have taken the morning off.
I don't have anything else interesting to add. Still raining.
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
thanks, ladies for the dust ruffle expertise!
stephanie-100 million points to MFD for not offering to host easter. i hate easter. my parents for some strange reason like to do a ham or something every year, lord knows why, since we are jewish...i think they just like the opportunity to gather with family and cook. even though passover is literally the same week, so we will do it twice in one week this year...
sunshine-how are things going since the passing of your FIL? everybody ok? hubbie alright??
queen-PICTURE PRONTO!
Blog
Rainy Rainy Day here... yuck! Nothing much going on here. Excited for Thursday when my friend and I are going to see Jersey Boys.
Shauni- that is alot cooking in one week to do Easter dinner AND a Sedar. I've never done one but all the women at work say it's ALOT of work.. Do you follow the eating rules of passover?
If Easter is nice, I want to do yardwork or take my dogs to the park or sit in my yard. If Easter is crappy, I want to lay on my couch and never shower all day. We don't do church, we don't dress up, so leave me be mid-spring holiday. Regardless of the weather or the holiday for that matter I do not want to hear whining from my inlaws.
QOA - picture, pronto! I have a hair appointment Saturday. I need to go back to lighter highlights, they hide the gray much much better.
Sunshine - I flipping hate coming in early for meetings, I am ready for bed by 9 a.m. and still have to work the rest of the day. No bueno.
nope, i am a horrible jew. normally we go to one sedar and thats it. there is matzoh ball soup, some sort of beef roast, nothing kosher. we do the sedar (usually an abridged one), drink wine, dip parsley, hide the afikohman, etc. nothing kosher though (we usually start the night out with some sort of shrimp cocktail--oops!)

Aw, thanks for asking. Things are going okay. K is still having a difficult time - as expected - some days are better than others. He's having a really hard time with work. His dad worked a LOT and probably contributed pretty significantly to the heart attack, so now K keeps saying, "Life is too short to work in biotech." We keep daydreaming about taking off and traveling for a while and enjoying the world a bit, but then again, we're not independently wealthy, so yeah... probably not happening. :-P
Other than that, we're learning the hard way what a total PITA it is to deal with estates and inheritance taxes, etc. Learning all the ways to protect our (hypothetical) kids when our time comes from the IRS, etc. They really do suck. It's like, "Oh, hey, your dad died. Let me kick you in the nuts and tax the *** out of you for everything he worked so hard to leave you. Have a nice day!"
Ok, done being a Debbie Downer now. :-)
Seriously, dude! I keep thinking it HAS to be lunch time by now, but noooooo. It's only 9-forty-frickin-five. Ugh. Stick a fork in me. Done. Wake me at noon. :-)
Ugh, death and taxes. Nightmares and related.
I'm sorry you guys are going through this. It's especially hard to deal with while you're grieving.
Life is too short for a lot of things, but we often realize that too late. Unfortunately we can't quit our jobs, but we can make the most of our time outside of them.
Hang in there, you and hubby!
My mom is hosting Easter this year, but with the JB coming, she "wasn't sure how things would go." She suggested having Easter at MY house. She'd provide all the food etc, but still, parents, grandma, aunt/uncle/cousins & their families at my house when I may have just come home from the hospital? I squashed that. Me no think it good idea. DH concurs with me.
Thoughts for you and your DH, Rachel. Totally get what you're saying about biotech
Shauni - I think they make bedskirts for larger boxsprings (sort of like they make fitted sheets for pillowtop mattresses) that have more room, so they will touch the ground. I want to say I saw such a thing at BBB, but I'm sure you can find one if you look around!
Today is rainy and dreary but I'm in a pretty fantastic mood despite that. I figure the rain gives me an excuse to wear cute rain boots and not give an eff what my hair looks like
Also, the champagne dress I ordered came in and OMG it's gorgeous. I know I shouldn't wear it to the wedding, but I will definitely find a use for it. The red one was too big, so I had to return it (I'm only out $5 though, it was worth a shot!) and I think I'll just wear the purple one. Also exciting, I realized that a while back I ordered a dress from Anthro and totally forgot about it, so now I know what I'm wearing to the bride's shower in two weeks! I may have gone a bit overboard and ordered four pair of shoes from Payless last night in celebration of passing my quals, too
Oh HELL no. Good for you. That is insane to even consider it.
Damn you and your new shoes Laura!
This spending moratorium is going to suck.
Even if you don't have to cook, it's stressful having family in your house. Good for you for putting your foot down!!
Sunshine - Thinking of you and your DH.
My grandparents died 10 years ago and we are still having issues with their estate.
Rainy Shisty Tuesday? YES!
I have a exam tomorrow and Im so not prepared and so not excited about it. I get to miss a Foo Fighter thing tonight so I can stay home and study...sometimes I hate being responsible.
Morning all. Yes, Tuesdays sucketh. I love that Richard is back on day shift but today (as well as yesterday) when he leaves early I can't go back to sleep. I need my sleep or I'm cranky. I guess I should just get my a$$ up and start going to the gym in the mornings.
I'm so hungry and it's only 8:12 am. I need coffee too. Coffee is ready, gonna go pour myself a big cup!
Edit: I knew I forgot something. Sunshine- T&P!
Thanks everyone for the nice words and thoughts. I just feel so awful for K. He's only 35 and both of his parents are already gone. :-(
And Good Lord, I really hope this estate doesn't drag out any longer than it has to, but I'm not optimistic. FIL owned a business and now we're responsible for determining the value of the business on the day he passed (to pay taxes on), which is proving to be pretty close to impossible. Blah.
On a happier note - SUSIE!! I've been only half checking in here lately - I just noticed that you have less than two weeks until the baby gets here! Holy crap! Doesn't seem like it's been 9 months already! Are you ready? And good for you for putting your foot down on the Easter thing. No way would I want all those people in my house if either A) I just came home from the hospital with a new baby orI love the Foo Fighters. Wah. Good luck on your exam!
Dude, that's nuts! My MIL joked about doing that with us for Thanksgiving, since H and I normally host. Um, no.
