S/O Organizational Baskets

I'm trying to find a better way of organizing things all around the house.  Specifically I'm looking for a good way to organize things under the bathroom sink (we have hair products, spare items like toothpaste/toothbrushes, you get the idea) so its all neat and right there.  I clean out & organize under there every few months but I'm thinking having certain things grouped together in a basket or something like that would make it look even nicer.

What do you do for areas such as under the bathroom sink?  Bookshelf in an office?  Closets?  I've been looking online at The Container Store & they have some good ideas but I'm also not wanting to spend a ton of money at the same time.  TIA for any ideas/tips/suggestions!

  • I've had great luck finding baskets at the thrift store for $1-3. Some have been a little ugly and I just used spray paint to freshen them up... It worked great and helped corral the extra crap that was accmulating on our bookshelf.

  • I use baskets all over the house, under bathroom counters, laundry room, closet, and anywhere else I can fit them.  I find them at homegoods and other stores like it.  I store my purses, shoes, beauty products and even toilet paper.  In my closet I also use some lacquer boxes (found at HG) where I keep earrings, necklaces, etc.
  • Do you ever get gift *baskets* of bath items?  *These might also be decorative trays, boxes, or bags.*  I get rid of the excess packaging and use those to keep stuff organized.

  • I group like items together and put them in their own basket. For example, hair stuff in hair basket. I use baskets that I have been given or I pick some up at the dollar store. Sometimes I even label the baskets, especially if it's in a shared area and other people have to put stuff back, then I don't have to organize it nearly as much.
