I'm throwing H a 30th birthday party. Our friends are pretty big drinkers and parties are always BYOB (it's expected and they know it, so don't need thoughts on that, I'll have some non alcoholic stuff but that's easy peasy). As for food I want to do a table full of apps so that people can just take what they want as they please.
Here's what I have so far:
-Pulled Pork Sliders
-BBQ Bacon wrapped Jalapeno's
-Mexican dip (in the little dipper crockpot) with nachos
-veggies and dip
-brownie covered oreos
-cookies
-ice cream cake
I realize it's not very fancy but this is the kind of food H loves. Am I missing anything though? Do you have any other good app ideas that you would add?
Re: 30th party food
It seems to be missing something. Maybe a cheese tray something with shrimp (I have a simple and yummy dip recipe)? I'd also consider some salty munchies- soft pretzel nuggets, or popcorn (top with butter, garlic, cayenne, and some hot sauce and toss in honey roasted nuts).
What are these brownie covered oreos? They sound awesome.
oh what's the simple dip recipe (oh probably good to note that I can't have anything with shell fish at the party since my FIL will be there and he's deathly allergic).
soft pretzels are a great idea too!
Brownie covered oreos, I haven't tried but look so easy to make and they look so good! You pretty much just make brownie mix (I'll do it from scratch but the recipe actually used just a box of brownie mix) and dip oreo's in one at a time, put them in lightly greased muffin tins and cook according to brownie directions. Then just make them pretty with some frosting
I'll see if I can find the link...

The dip won't work then, it's got shrimp in it. I was just trying to think of a little more protein. Maybe mini salmon cakes?
If you have a deep fryer, cut the soft pretzels into chunks and toss them in the deep fryer. Sooooo good.
Thanks for the link too. Those things sound great.
I like the veggie pinwheel idea! Thanks!
Fun!
Veggies and dip is always my favorite, but I'm the only one who eats it. Just sayin'.
But in my experience, people who are drinking rarely give a shiit about sweets. So I would keep the (birthday) cake and skip the brownies. Instead go heavy on hearty appetizers, dips, chips/breads, and something like crockpot meatballs (again, heavy app.. but easy!).
