Travel and WiFi

So I travel for work and some of the hotels that i go to dont have free wireless internet access in the rooms.  I want to be able to skype with my daughter while i am away.  This year i am traveling 6 weeks in a 4 month span.  a week at a time.  What can i buy so that i can have internet access where ever i am?  And what is the cheapest?  I heard there are USB type devices and such that you would be able to do this but i dont know anything about them.  I would be connecting via a netbook if that matters.

Re: Travel and WiFi

  • I have the Verizon personal wifi and it is great. you can use it wireless (i use it for my ipad) or with a USB (which I've done for my netbook). It can support up to 5 devices at a time and I've never had a problem with it. I think I get 3 gb a month and its like $25.  A lot of phones with data plans (blackberries, iphones) can be set up to piggy back off them as well.  you can call your cell provider if you have a smart phone.  Good luck!

  • hmmm i don't know about that one. I would call verizon and see if there is any way you can "tether" it... if not, the wifi thing I got (I think it my be called MyFi or something) is great.

  • you should be able to add that to your data plan. Call Verizon and ask about tethering. Verizon's is called a Myfi.
