Need opinions/reviews on The Learning Experience

Was interested in looking into The Learning Experience for my son when I go back to work.  I would be looking at the one in Roxbury/Ledgewood on route 46.  Anyone use them them??  He will be almost 7 months when he starts.

Re: Need opinions/reviews on The Learning Experience

  • The one down here is horrible. i know they hire people with absolutely no childcare experience. i know the prices are lower, but i think you pay for what you get.
  • holy crap.  grace didn't go to that one (she was in wayne) but we loved it there.  if i could afford to send both boys there i would but we're stuck with my ILs for a good couple of years first.
proof that i make babies. jack, grace, and ben, in no particular order

  • In one right now - not real happy - the director told me "it's hard to get people when I can only pay $9 an hour, 40 hour week, no benefits and no paid days off."  WOW!

  • I think it all depends on which one you go to. Both of $y kids are in the cedar grove TLE and I honestly don't have complaints. They both thrive there, and the teachers seem to genuinely care about them. I can't speak for rockaway though.

  • I definitely think it depends on the location. Take my opinion for what it's worth since Vincent only started in daycare last month but so far I have no problems w/ my TLE location in Hamilton. His teacher really seems to care about him, I like the Director and I like that it's a small class right now (4 kids).

Every place is different, there are 2 Goddards in my area and I hear completely different reviews on both of them. When I toured a Goddard, I didn't think it was bad, just not what I was looking for. Vincent would've been in a class w/ 6 week olds. And overall, I just felt it was very overwhelming, w/ a ton of kids in a small area. I just got a better feel at TLE. With some places it's a matter of preferences. You'll know the right place when you see it. That's what everyone told me and it winded up being true. Good luck.

  • My daughter goes to this TLE and I have no complaints.  She was just under 6 months when she started.  I never call, but when I have I have never had any issues and she LOVES her teacher.  She gets so excited in the morning when she sees her.

If you have any questions feel free to email me nestie name @ gmail if you have any specific questions.

Oh and I looked at the kindercare up the road and it was not for me.

  • We toured the one in our area (Waldwick) and really liked it. Like PP's said, I think it depends on the location. This one is brand-new. However, while the price for full-time was in line with other care centers, their part-time rates were astronomical....so it wouldn't have worked out for us.

  • I'm biased since I work at a much better center nearby. From what I recall they aren't NAEYC accredited either.
  • I think it really depends on the location.  We just toured the one in Ramsey and are leaning towards it.  I also know a few mom's who send their kids there and love it.  With chains it always depends on the location

Ramsey has the same "higher-ups" as Waldwick, and they were beyond nasty to us when we had a problem with a teacher. All they had to do was train their teachers for a certain issue that relates to ALL kids, and instead they waged a campaign against my husband and me. Absolute a**holes. When we left, several families came with us. I will never recommend the Waldwick location.

I also know of people who have had their kids in Ramsey with no problems. Lucky for them, they didn't have a teacher like the one we had to deal with because they would have lost that battle.

You should know that your posts about this sound kind of extreme and reading them makes it sound like the issue might have been with YOU, not with the school.   If you really had a genuine issue that you think should make people stay away from the school, you are not really going about it the right way.

I am sorry if this sounds nasty.  It's just that you sound like you have a real "vendetta".

  • We love it!  Never had any problems.  My son has some allergies and they are very careful with them.   He learns a lot from them.  He loves it and so do we.  Wouldn't change schools for anything.
