Do You Remember...

The day before you had your baby?

Tomorrow Ella turns one, and I'm SO weepy today! UGH!!

This day last year it was nice, but a storm was supposed to be blowing in. I remember working all day, (even found an email to a friend) talking about walking to Subway to get lunch. Trained my temp, and we were joking around for like an hour, and laughed SO hard! LOL Kyle &I are still friends, and we joke about his A LOT!  Then I walked from Capital Square to my parking garage, (7th & Center, so like 8blocks) going to the store, buying an awesome dinner. Going home, having my BIL come over to pick up our old TV.H was putting touch ups of paint in the baby's room.

Then I had to pee, IMAGINE that!?!?, I go to the bathroom(5pm) stand up, *pee*myself, sit down, trinkel trinkel, then I stand again, another gush, I realize, that's not pee, and I don't need to be mad at myself for wetting my pants! HA! BIL is still here, I tell Patrick, UM My water just broke, He looks at me, and says "NO! That's not allowed, I'm still painting" Then I cried. lol

He told BIL to leave , while I'm calling the hospital to tell them we're on our way. We had time to shower, and while H is showering/getting ready, I did a load of laundry and the dishes (didn't get to eat dinner).-keep this in mind!

We get to the hospital, they run the tests, check me in. H is STARVING, so we get into the room he asks the nurses if he can order food, the kitchen is closed, but there are take out menus, so he finds the Beratta's, they're about to close, but they make an expetion for him, he orders a TON of food, and eats in front of me. JERK LOL, my mom comes up at midnight, and around 8am, I have my baby girl.

SIGH, I'm REALLY weepy today LOL

Do you remember the day before, leading up to the birth? (Sorry this turned into a novel)

Re: Do You Remember...

  • I think it's amazing, all the little details moms remember the day before/of the birth of their child(ren)!

I can just imagine H telling me it's not time for whatever reason and me crying about it - but he darn well better have the room painted before then! lol

LOL you will too! In a few weeks! Just wait!!! write down what you can!

  • The day before was a Thursday - ISU's season opener football game. DH and I went and his aunt ended up sitting in the row in front of us. Since it was the last game I'd be at for a while and had to be NPO after 10, I ate chicken strips, fries, polish sausage and popcorn - stuff that I was staying away from because of my GD. DH's aunt told me I was nuts for being there but I had no contractions, no dilation and no effacement. We got home around midnight and were up at 4 to be in Clarion by 6. B was born at 8:25 that morning.

  • I love hearing/sharing stories of births.  I used to watch A Baby Story waaaayyy before I was preggo.

I went home over lunch and walked our dog.  I had some back pains, and squatted down, because it stretched my lower back, but didn't think much of it, because I was 4 days early still.

That night, I made these awesome spinach/roasted red bell pepper/monterrey jack cheese chicken roll ups.  DH took his into the living room (where we used to eat dinner) and I grabbed mine.  I was bringing my plate in to the living room, when I set it down at the dining room table, and pulled my pants down!  haha.  I had felt a little trickle, and then WHOOSH.  I didn't know I could have that much come out of me safely!!!  My husband and I both looked at each other and said 'I guess it is time, huh?'.  Then, DH tried to keep the dog out of it (yes, gross!) while I went to the bathroom and had more of my water break.  We called up the doc, who said we could come in if we wanted to (uh... yeah!) and then went to the hospital.  It was Feb, so DH dropped me off, and I headed up.  I remember saying that my water broke and some lady next to me said 'lucky!'.  She was scheduled for an induction I learned later.  DH was a great help (NOT).  He slept for the first part, then gave me some balled up socks after I squeezed his hand too hard.  The nurses actually had to take more care of him, because hospitals make him pass out (the smell I guess), so they kept getting him juice and monitoring him too!  15 hours later (and 2 epi's) Kellen was in our lives!

  • I was induced on a Monday, so I think I made DH take me out to dinner Sunday night.  I really don't remember...that's kind of sad!  I do remember just about every detail of her birthday, though!

  • It was Monday about 9:00pm, blew off the swim class, wasn't feeling it. Fajita night at El Rodeo, we had take out.  I was sitting in the living room feeling big as a house, eating and thought I had to pee.  Got up went to the bathroom and it didn't feel like pee.  Walked back into the living room and told Mike that I thought my water just broke, no contractions, nothin.  Called the on call and told him what was happening, he thought it was my water and told me to head to the hospital.  I was really calm, Mike was a bit more freaked.  I showered, threw the last few things into the hospital bag and we were out the door.  Got to the hopsital at about 11pm and yep it was my water.  No contractions still and about 1 or 2 in the moring the pitocin started.  It was a SLOW process and finally at about 8:00pm on Tuesday they decided that it had to be a c-section.  At 9:49pm we had our sweet little M.
  • I don't remember nearly as much as some of you but I do remember going to see the midwife on Thursday (2 days past the due date), they talked alot about inducing which I didn't want to do and said if I didn't have the baby before my appointment next week we needed to talk more seriously about inducing. That night I told Mike he needed to have a talk with our little guy. He did, he spoke right to my belly and told our little man he needed to start making his way out. I woke up at 1am on Friday b/c I had to pee. I remember laying in bed and being pissed b/c I just was up at 11pm to pee. I flung the covers off and grumpily made my way to the bathroom. Just as I stepped off the carpet and onto the tile my water broke and I stood there shocked. I grabbed the nearest towel and cleaned up the mess and put on my robe. I then went back to the bedroom to wake up Mike. I nudged him a little and he rolled over slowly. I asked if he was ready to have a baby today and I got a very tired high pitched WHAT?! out of him. Then we both just laid in bed for awhile longer letting everything sink in. Got to the hospital at 4am and B was born at 3pm.

  • I remember somebody at work burnt popcorn.  The smell was so bad that I turned green, my coworkers made me stand by a trashcan :(  I got home and played with the dogs when I got home for about 10 minutes and by the end I thought I had heat stroke.  I was nauseous, sick to my stomach and couldn't cool down.  I ended up having to take a cool bath.  We went to bed normal time.  I woke up about 4 to go to the bathroom.  On my way back to bed I wet myself.  Went back to the bathroom and tried to convince myself that it wasn't my water.  I finally woke Adam up at 5, he flew out of bed the fastest I've ever seen.  We called the OB and let them know and had to pack.  We had nothing prepped yet.  I remember crying on the way to the hospital that we forgot the camera.  Adam also had to call a friend and have them take care of the pups.  They hooked us up for about 30 minutes before Dr. Brown came in and ordered an emergency c-section.
