i want to be....

an extreme coupon-er!  OMG i watched that show and to see how much they saved was crazy. i really have to change something about the way we shop. i told dh if we did that we could afford a kid asap.

but really those people must not have anything else going on to spend over 5 hours in a store for one trip.

  • I watched that last night with DH and thought WOW and WTF? Seriously, I don't know how they have the time to do all that research and shopping. I mean, $6 for $600 worth of groceries is AMAZING, but I don't have the time to go through every single flyer and whatnot. Umm and 5hrs at the store, no thanks, I like getting in and out ASAP.

  • ha, no definitely not NYers.  i did see part of the 2nd show last night.  it was impressive but such a huge time commitment.  not to mention i have a hard time finding coupons for things we eat anyway.  even though they say they eat it all i bet they dont.  maybe they should volunteer their time for the food banks if they really do get all this stuff for free.  like one of the people i saw was just a couple.  i mean really how much of that food can you eat?

Exactly. If i wanted to purchase lots of box and frozen foods I could and used to make out really well.

For those that generally like things that have coupons in the papers sign up for the grocery game. They do all the work of going through the ads and matching them up to the coupons.  Then they tell you the price. You still need to track what the best price for items are but it helps cut back on the work. Because I used to be a part of this I know I should never pay for Toothpaste or toothbrushes lots of coupons and even more sales.  I am always jealous of the coupons they get for fresh veggies, meat and milk however I think that is typically from rebates.

Some of you girls are wiz's at the online shopping sale things I wish I was better at that.

  • I watched the show, too. Unbelievable!

    How did they do it?

  • I want to get into extreme couponing as well, I would not wish to have a huge stock pile but just a nice supply on things that we always use like toothpaste, personal needs, etc. I want to do it really for the savings and not so much of having 2 years worth of food. I have already started with a friend, every sunday we get together and exchange coupons so that we have mutiples of whatever is in the sales paper that we are going to need, my mother also gives me her coupons and I get them online.

  • I think the MM board runs a coupon chain.  So any coupons you are not using you send to the next person they pull what they want add their not wanted coupons and send to the next. I used to do it and liked it then you get offers that were not in your area and sometimes they are better.

  • I watched it last night. I love to save a buck and understand the thrill of getting a bargain but comethefuckon. No one needs 62 mustards. No one needs 100 yogurts. Those people are fuucked in the head.

Agreed.  I get the frozen or boxed even (although not to that extreme) but the other more perishable stuff...WHAT?  And what the hell did that lady need THIRTY FIVE bottles of Maalox for?????????????????? For the party she was having?  Because you are getting rid of your stockpile and people might need it for the old food????

At least one time I saw the guy get 1000s boxes of Total Cereal for free and he donated them all to a local shelter.

I just don't get also how some of those stores let them stack so many.  I have never had that luck...b/c most say "limit one per customer"

  • Also, have these people never had a power outage? We have an extra fridge in our basement but I would never ever fill it to the brim.
  • IMO it boarder lines on hoarders with what these people are buying.

I BABY extreme coupon for formula and diapers.  Have since he was born.  But I buy what I NEED only.

Like .06 for 6 jugs of formula at Walmart:)  We use RTF everyday all day always have.

I plan on documenting more of my baby savings with next baby.

  • I agree with everyone that THIS IS HOARDING!  I have gotten some super good deals at CVS using sales and manufacturers coupons and extra bucks.

Do these people live on processed food???

FRESH FRUIT and VEGGIES never have coupons.  How do they get those for free??
