Volt Waitlist and or Bar Area

Just decided I'm coming to Baltimore for the Easter Wknd. Late decision as I have finals for my MBA classes that week and its qtr close at work.

Anyway would love to try Volt and their is not a reservation and day Friday - Monday, breakfast, lunch, dinner for 2 but opentable says their is a waitlist. Anyone have any experience getting off the waitlist and actually getting a reservation?

Do they have a decent sized bar area that is first come first serve seating?

Re: Volt Waitlist and or Bar Area

  • I can't speak to the waitlist and how likely you are to get a reservation as I've never used it, but I can tell you that the bar area is quite small.

There's a dozen seats or so at the bar itself, a couple of couches and a couple of chairs.  I live quite a hike from VOLT, so it would be a long drive for a slim shot at a seat, but YMMV.

  • Hopefully FIA will chime in on this, but she posted a review of her experience at Volt and mentioned that they arrived early for their Sunday brunch reservation and were shown to the bar to wait and the bar was empty. So maybe if you come first thing on Sunday morning, you will be able to eat at the bar.

  • Have you called Volt? or are you only looking at Open Table?

While open table is great I know that a lot of the more popular/hot restaurants in NYC don't put ALL of their available tables on Open Table- it's possible Volt might do the same, so it might be worth calling to see what their reservations person says.

Sarah makes a good point - the bar was utterly empty when we arrived on Sunday for brunch (hence the photo above). We had the first reservations of the day.  If you're planning to arrive equally early then you have a good shot at a seat, I would imagine, but if you're hoping for dinner, I'm not so sure.  I also don't know if the holiday will influence the crowds, but you could potentially call them directly to ask if they see a larger number of guests on Easter weekend.

  • My parents go to the bar and get seats all the time.  And if it's nice they have the outdoor area open which you can get seated at.  You just have to order at the bar (no waitstaff outside).

  • I would call them.  I got a reservation for a Saturday when I called them even though I couldn't on opentable.
  • To get reservation it's usually a month or two wait list. But I've gone to the bar a few times. It's very popular placeto try but also very small and exspsensive but good! It is about an hour from Baltimore depending where you're at. Maybe try one of the many good restaurants in Baltimore? Just a thought....
