I've been battling some nasty bug for two and a half weeks now. I've slowly been getting better, but I've had this lingering, nasty, gunky cough. Last week, my CF doctor put me on a steroid and a z-pak. It helped, but I still felt like crap this week, so he put me on another antibiotic on Tuesday. Today I called to ask when this cough should go away, so he had me come in.
It turns out my lung function is down
20%, so my doctor wants to put me on IVs. I haven't had to go on IVs in
22 years. Luckily, I can do them from home, but I have to administer
the IV antibiotics every six hours, plus do 20 minutes of physical
therapy four times a day. And my husband is going to be out of town next
week. And we can't fly in my mom because she is on vacation in Florida.
And we can't fly in his mom because his grandmother is currently
visiting his mom. DH can cancel his work trip, but that means he won't
get some of the training he is required to have in order to get the
promotion his work promised.
Re: XP:I Could Use Good Vibes
Feel better soon, I am scheduled to feel better on Sunday, so I will add you to the list of people who are going to be all better by Sunday.
I really, really hope you don't have to go on IV treatment.

tons of healthy nestie juju coming atcha! I hope you rest a ton this weekend and get better quickly.
Even if you don't need IVs starting Monday, it's going to be a tough week with your H gone and you recovering. Can you hire someone for even a few hours a day to help out?
We could, but I'd rather not spend the $$$ - he was traveling last week, too, and I managed okay. Luckily I feel fine, it's just the time it takes to do all the crap that is overwhelming, especially because Lily is teething and really fussy and clingy! Luckily, I think I have a plan - I can do my treatments when she is napping and after she goes to bed. And I won't have an IV pole - apparently it's just a pack that I wear, so I just have to administer the med and then I can do pretty much whatever I want.
Thanks everyone!
But, I am still hoping I won't need the IV. I've been up for a half hour and my breathing is a lot better so far today, but we'll see what happens after I've been up and moving around longer.
