***Juli*** re: NOLA

We went to New Orleans for a day this week and LOVED it. Our must do's for the day:

Lunch at Stanley: http://www.stanleyrestaurant.com/ I had the Club Stanley. The pesto sauce on it was DE.LI.CIOUS. I wanted another one just so I could have more sauce.

Beignets at Cafe Du Monde: http://www.cafedumonde.com/main.html A cheap, yummy treat. Mr. Vila said the coffee wasn't that great, though.

If you like zoos: http://www.auduboninstitute.org/visit/zoo Seriously the best zoo I've ever visited. It was amazing. We got there later in the afternoon and I wish we would have had four more hours. It was so cool.

  • Re: The coffee at DuMonde. I love the cafe au lait there, despite the fact that I usually prefer regular black coffee. Juli, please try the cafe au lait, I think it's amazing.
  • Woo hoo - Thank you for the recs and I'm glad you had a good time!  It's funny because we just realized we go in less than 2 weeks - for whatever reason this little getaway has snuck up on us.

I may be most excited for the beignets. :-)  I will try a cafe au lait for you Suze!  I am a fan of lattes and that's what that sounds like, so I'll give it a go.

Stanley's looks delicious - I will add it to the list!  I think one of our most difficult decisions will be deciding where to eat, because I swear I want to go to about 50 different restaurants.

I'm 50 pages into Confederacy of Dunces, and I'm going to try very hard to finish by the trip, or perhaps on the airplane ride in.
