Mommies...help! Poo problems...
Here it is: Mason is now mainly formula fed, I BF him in the evenings and overnight if he wakes up. I gave him oatmeal on Thurs. and Fri., on Sat. he had sweet potatoes (for the first time!) He pooed on Thurs. but not Fri or Sat. (he has been going almost every day since being on formula). Today he only went a small amount and it was more solid than I am used to seeing. It wasn't formed or hard, but not really soft. I am wondering if I should be doing anything to keep him from getting backed up. Such as prunes, or juice or something. I really don't want my little man to be in pain!! Any ideas would be helpful!! TIA!
Re: Mommies...help! Poo problems...
You could do tummy circles and bicycle his legs to make sure he is going okay...I asked my pedi if it was okay Austin was only going once a week and she said it was totally fine for him so long as it was pellet like or super hard - it's usually the consistency of peanut butter (gross, I know) for Austin...he used to be a once a day pooper, but it's changed over time - especially with the introduction of solids...
I made sure to introduce some "p" foods as well, after the rice cereal introduction - "p" foods are good for poop - peaches, pears, prunes
Thanks Allyson! That actually was how I would have described it, but wasn't sure how to!
Lisa, I'll have to go and get some pears or something to try and see if it helps.
I appreciate your responses ladies!!
Connor hasnt had any constipation problems to date but I mix it up and try to give him a fruit in the morning and a vegetable at night and I usually give him pears or peas once every other day.
Good luck!! The days of the "sweet" smelly poos are all about done! lol
