Where can I get free moving boxes?

I have to pack up my room at school by the end of the year for remodeling and everything needs to be out. I'm trying to be proactive and get things done now before I feel too terrible as the weeks go on.

Does anyone know where can I get free moving boxes?

Re: Where can I get free moving boxes?

  • I'd check with large stores in the mornings - HyVee, Target, WalMart, etc. - if you wait too long, they will have crushed them, but if you're there first thing (even on weekends), they'll often pull some out for you.

This + We call/stop in and talk to the HyVee Produce dept and they will hold them for you.  Apple Boxes are my favorite!!

  • When we moved we got boxes from Target & HyVee. Ask in the produce department.

I think we also got some boxes from Office Max...

  • I have a bunch, but they are big (like computer monitor boxes, maybe a little bigger?).  If you would like, I can get to you!  The only thing is that they don't have handles, and are big, so are hard to pick up and carry if you fill them with heavy stuff.

  • A couple moves back I got a ton of great, sturdy boxes from a liquor store. They usually have an area where they leave them and they haven't crushed them. Free and sturdy, can't beat that!
