finger foods..help a mom out..lol
Allie is starting to fight purees a little and I think she wants more finger foods. I am all for it! Currently she has tried: veg, toast, waffles, chicken, cheese, egg yolk and plain pasta. She does great with them. She also gets at least 24oz of BM.
My concern is: how much finger foods should she eat to replace the purees? As for the oatmeal....what can I replace it with to make sure she is getting the right nutrition?
I also need some ideas for lunches for her! I know of the wholesome baby food site but any other ideas?
Is it too early to cut out purees?
Re: finger foods..help a mom out..lol
Jordan was completely off purees before she was 9months old - closer to 7 months actually. She ate anything & everything we ate (except eggs & peanut butter, but that's b/c I'm allergic & hate the taste so it was never something I thought to give her).
the majority of her nutrition is still coming from bm.
We do peas, diced carrots, small pieces of pasta (rotini works great b/c I can cut it into small pieces but still easy to pick up!), waffle, bread, pancake, potato, fruits... basically i'm willing to give her anything but what's off limits still (honey, eggs, PB, nuts) and choking hazards (hot dogs, nuts, grapes). Those I'll intro in a few months.
Plus we're non-dairy right now so no cheese in this house :-(

I feel like we're in a rut, but here's what L's been getting.
Breakfast: eggs, friut, oatmeal, pancake, toast. i need to shop so today she had toast with creamcheese and blueberries.
Lunch: dinner leftovers, grilled cheese, yogurt, pasta (plain or with sauce), vegetable (a bag of mixed frozen veg is great to have on hand...i just defrost some). today she had some leftover chicken and pasta.
dinner: usually whatever we are having, but tonight she had a scrambled egg, cheese & peaches
I make G whole grain toast or bagel thins and then cut them into strips. I kind of do that in place of the cereal/oatmeal.
We also do cheese strips from like string cheese, waffles or pancakes, fruit cut up, sweet potato chunks, other veggie chunks, cooked chicken breast, pasta with butternut squash puree as the sauce, grilled cheese, yogurt, o cereal or puffs and lots of stuff the other ladies have mentioned.
