do your parents know you nest?
my mom wants to know who is so important that I would plan a trip up to jacksonville for brunch.
uhh... you know... some people I met on the internet.
haha I've just never really mentioned the nest to her before. Anyone else I would possibly visit in town she knows from when I was younger and living at home.
Re: do your parents know you nest?
At first they thought hanging out with knotties was a little odd, but since I've now known you guys almost 3 years, it's just a matter of life. Plus I more or less dated my H online, so they can't say anything about my also making girlfriends online.
Crazy does, however, do her best to discredit you if I get advice that's contrary to what she wants me to do. Like, "Oh, well, that's nice that your online friends do xyz with their babies, but that doesn't mean THE LORD wants you to do that."
I guess that's the grownup version of, "if all your friends jump off the bridge, are you going to also?" because I'm 12 and can't think for myself.
Yes, my mom knows. She's never really said anything either way about it, so I suppose she doesn't think it's too weird.
Do you / did you go on Efnet?
This totally made me snicker to myself.

When I was 12 I went to the TEEN rooms and thought I was SO COOL.
You guys are "the brides" to parents/friends. Carryover from the Knot.
Yes, Efnet and IRCnet.
DH thinks it's cool that a nestie uses IRC. He's an IRC nerd.
haha I don't IRC anymore. But depending on how old your DH is, he might like this IRC claim to fame tidbit. My first big time crush was a very good friend of Mach's up at UCDavis who wrote the code for alexbot/robbot that ran #jeopardy and then #riskeybus. I crashed a few times at Mach's house and totally f'ed up his wok once.
LOL!
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?
BFP-2/25/11; 8 Wk U/S-3/25/11-No HB, measured 6.5 wks; D&C
I have no idea what any of this means, though I do recognize the word Jeopardy. So hashtags were used pre-Twitter?

Yes, hashtags denoted a 'channel' which was similar to a board on here, but it was live chatting.
Jen, stop laughing at me!
Yeah, I don't really know what any of this means... but he said he didn't know those bots. Nice claim to fame, though!
can't help it. How can you not laugh at a story that ends with "I totally f'ed up his wok once"???
Basically this for me too. It was tough explaining three years ago, but now it's just my "internet friends."
"Who's in your book club?"
"Some of my internet friends."
"Fun!"
It's not so easy explaining to people IRL though without sounding like a creepster. Luckily it doesn't come up much.
Tritto. I don't even bother explaining most of the time.
I actually met my BFF on an Equestrian message board when we were like 14 or 15... Then we met IRL at a horse show in Ocala.
