Fertilizer/Weed Killer Question

We moved into our home in November and the yard is a hot mess! It is a brand new home so the front yard was sodded and the back, only seeded. The front is doing ok, but has a ton of dandilions and clover starting to pop up. The back is a mess of mass proportion. I don't even know where to start with it.

I put down fertilizer about a week and a half ago and the dandilions in the front yard are killing me. When is it ok for me to spray weed killer, the kind that you attach to the hose and spray?  I would assume there is a wait period because of the fertilizer, but maybe I am wrong.

The best time to spray weed killer depends on the type of weed killer used. Read the label and follow the instructions. There`are many "weed & feed" products that kill weeds and fertilize grass simultaneously.

Instead of spraying nasty chemicals, I'm going to dig mine up. I have found several recipes for dandelion, and every part of the plant is edible and very nutritious. They were brought here from Europe for their medicinal qualities, but now people just want to kill them.
