What to do with an older carseat?

I have a Graco infant carseat that's over 5 years old. It's still in good shape and has never been in an accident. I know it's not recommended to use older carseats because of safety guidelines, but it seems too good to just toss. Does anyone know of a non profit (women's shelter, whatever) that might want it?

Re: What to do with an older carseat?

  • I think the rule of thumb is 6 years, so it's not technically expired yet.  I'm trying to sell one on CL right now that was manufactured in 2007.  I think I have a buyer today.

If you don't find anything else, I could take it off your hands for my agency.  We transport kids for visits with their parents after removals from the home.  We can always use more car seats.  We aren't non-profit though, so it wouldn't be a tax write off for you.

  • Cool, I'm not worried about the tax write off. Just want it to go to good use!

  • Ok well if you don't find another good use for it, just let me know!
