2 thing i keep meaning to ask

Do you use regular wash cloths for babies? I have so many towels that I don't really want more in my house. I keep hearing of "baby wash cloths" and wondering what the difference is.

We have a hammock in our back seat for the dog to keep the seats covered. Can there be anything between the seat and carseat? This one has openings for the seat belts to come thru. What are the regulations for carseats? Can the carseat be strapped in on top of this? Thanks!

  • Baby washcloths (aside from being smaller) are softer.

I'm not sure about that seat cover...  The officer who installed our car seat bases said that most inspection programs think the mats and other things under the car seats are a big no no.  It reduces the friction of the base against the seat.  The one thing that does seem to be ok is a rubbery shelf-liner, since it enhances the grip.  I'd run your cover by a police officer certified to inspect car seat installations for an official answer.

  • Good idea, thanks! I figured I'd just fold it in half if it wasn't ok'd.
  • Not too long ago there was a post JUST about baby wash cloths! I say yes, we use them a lot.

I would say that thing is a no no.

  • I had that same pet seat cover, but mine had a zipper so that you "free" up one side of the bench seat so that the cover wasn't covering the seat (you know, for car seats and non-canine passengers). And I swear that photo looks exactly like the one I had (only mine was beige).

Mine has a zipper too. My dog likes to stand on it and unzip it.

  • I don't find baby washcloths to be softer, but they are cuter. ;)  That said, you'd be amazed at how many you use.  I'd get a few at least.

  • I got a ton of baby washcloths because I was hoping to use them as wipes, but my husband vetoed that idea.  We use washcloths every day and all the time.  The big advantage is they are smaller than regular wash cloths so you can stick them in your pocket/diaperbag/bra/whatever and always have one on hand for the inevitable drool or spit up.
