Home

I am going to try to do the home posts as early as possible, so everybody gets an opportunity to take pictures.

Today's post is:  Spare room(s)

Re: Home

  • This is Floyd's office.  I have no need for a office and just use the laptop in the livingroom.  He is very proud of this room, since he built the computer on his own.  Ignore the piles of books.  They are all for Floyd's school.

  • we have several spare rooms, bear with me... on the main level we have:

Office: The other 3 walls are that apple green.  Scott thought I was crazy for this color palate (and maybe I am) but I love it.  It's bright and cheery.  Scott built that desk when he was a teenager out of an old door.

    image

Spare bedroom: a little un-decorated still.  Door stays closed most of the time to kepe the dogs out, so I kind of forget about it... I want to make a valance box deal for the window, and I desperately need a mirror to hang over the dresser...

    Downstairs spare rooms:

Scott's man-cave.  It's the only place I let him kepe his guns and his deer hide and antlers and camo.  I usually keep the door closed and pretend it doesn't exist.  It is a backup spare bedroom for when more people come visit.

    image

and the junk room: its the other spare bedroom in the basement, which we pretty much use as a giant storange closet.  I thought about skipping it (and I don't want you to see our junk), but I really love having this room.  Keeps the rest of the house so much less cluttered.  And it's a place to sharsh all of our camping stuff, Scott's ski and snowboard stuff, our luggage, and all the other stuff that doesn't have any where else to go.

  • One spare room, which is technically the second bedroom. It currently serves as office/game room:

  • The first thing that came to mind was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, i.e. "the land of spare oom".

No pics on mine. It's full of junk right now.

Office- I fully admit that we've done nothing to this room. I just can't make myself spend money on it, until it becomes a nursery. Then, I'll spend money galore. ;-)

  • Wow! You ladies are going to make it hard to choose! I'm not sharing any pics today because I'm in thr middle of a remodel (installing trim in our entire upstairs). However, I should soon have baby C's nursery photos for you :)
  • I dont have any to share either- I have plenty of spare rooms, however, they currently hold boxes. Plan to tackle this weekend.

  • Most of my spare rooms are a mess. We still haven't cleaned out ALL of my grandparents things...plus we haven't unpacked all of our stuff from when we moved in 2 years ago.  Plus, add renovations on top of that and it's a mess. HOWEVER, I'll still play.

This is the guest room that use to be my brother's bedroom when he lived with us. We still have a few of his things left in there and I've started unpacking some of my things from my bedroom from my parents house.  Big M has made all of the furniture except for the chair and the TV stand.

This is our future upstairs bathroom/master bath.  We're going to extend our bedroom a bit, make a walk in closet that then has a door into the bathroom.  Which is currently storing some of my grandparents things that we haven't cleaned out yet, Christmas decorations that haven't made it up to the attic and the boxes from my parents house that I haven't been able to unpack.

This is my aunt's old bedroom/the office/Doug's Celtics room/wedding and lia sophia crap collection room/when/if we ever have kids this will be the nursery. It's right across the hall from our bedroom.  And we have a day bed buried in here so if we ever need an additional place for a guest to stay, we can make some room:

This room has me the most pissed off that it's so messy. This was cleaned and really nice until the house went under constrction. This is our den/bar room on the first floor of our house. Since the house was once a 2 family, we essentially have 2 living rooms.  This was my brother's living room when he lived with us. Big M paneled these walls and built the bar way before I was even thought of. And I LOVE the piano. It's in really rough shape, though. I can't wait until we have the money to restore it.  This room also has a futon buried which is another place where guests can stay.

  • no pics but our spare bedroom is pink with purple trim and PB Kids princess wall paper, ceiling fan, and light switch. it has a queen bed with tan sheets and red bedding (which matches the spare bathroom). the intent has been to paint the walls mocha with white trim for the last two years.

our office is a light yellow with white trim and just contains the treadmill, a bookshelf, filing cabinet, and a desk with a PC.

our basement is finished and we have a sectional with a big screen tv. the wall decor is mostly dead deer, ducks, geese, and bears.

my favorite "spare room" is our wine room. we have several wine racks, a wine chiller, and hanging wine glass holders. its a room off of the finished basement. eventually we'll knock out the top half of the one wall and make it a bar.

  • This is one of our guest bedrooms. Nothing fancy. It was put together with things we already had. This will become the baby's room soon. I will probably paint the furniture and use the dresser (without the mirror) and use it for a changing table.

This is the second guest bedroom. I literally threw it together in a day with things we already owned. I'll probably put a little more effort into it once it becomes our only gust room.

This room is pretty large and is on the lower level of the house. The furniture is set up differently now, though. Everything in it was from Josh's previous houses. It doesn't really match the style of the rest of the house, but it's ok because he likes it and it's a little more manly:) We don't spend much time down here, but it's nice to have the extra space if we have a bunch of people over. Josh's favorite thing is the electronic (but cork) dart board.

  • I don't have any pics of our guest room, but it's pretty boring. Just a futon and a desk in there. Tan walls, same as the rest of the house. Blah.

  • I doubt anyone wants to see our spare rooms.  We have two guest bedrooms upstairs, one that has an old queen size bed and a lamp we bought from Ikea.  The other bedroom is completely empty except for some random junk we put in the closet.  That bedroom will hopefully be our nursery whenever that happens.  Since our townhouse is the end unit, that room has two walls with windows so it's nice and bright.

The basement is done and is our office space.  We just moved stuff down there so it's a big mess.  We really need to do a thorough cleaning of our stuff.

  • I have sooo many spare rooms. We have two spare bedrooms right now - one is a guest room and one will be an eventual nursery. Plus we have a "junk room" where we still have a lot of unpacked junk from when we moved a year and a half ago. And my husband's office. We also have two sunrooms - one upstairs and one downstairs. No pictures right now because we are still working on decorating, etc.
