I'm loving the hardy palms at Lowes and HD
In the past week I have bought three new palms. All of them should be hardy here in zone 7, and because they came from big box stores, they were ultra cheap. Tonight I found the 3rd and final one to complete my collection: a huge (15 gal) Needle Palm, and it was priced at $80, which is a fabulous price.
To top it all off, the grass seed I put down last week is sprouting (I'm trying out a miniature shade lawn). I've begun planting all my annual containers and hanging baskets. The Cannas will be up soon, and Elephant Ears are in the nurseries.
I love spring. I can hardly wait to have the neighbors over and show of my tropical paradise (in Virginia).

Oooh, that sounds loverly.
A few of my canna are already poking up. I put some oriental poppies next to them, we'll see how the colors play off each other, if there are any flowers left when the canna starts to leaf out.
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
