Easter eggs and filler ideas

Any ideas on how to reduce plastic waste when it comes to easter egg hunts?  Are there other egg hunt options?  (We're doing real eggs too).

Also, need ideas on fillers that are not cheap toys or candy, I'm stuck.

For filler, you could look at ideas for advent calendars.  How is your child(ren)?  You could put in slips of paper with fun things to do (coupons for activities/trips/treats).  A picture on them instead of words may make it work for younger kids.  There could be a puzzle piece in each one (using an existing puzzle or a make-your-own puzzle from a craft store).  That's all i've got.

What plastic waste are you encountering?  My family reused eggs every year.  Usually only one or two eggs broke each year.  Use wicker baskets that are reused each year.

I don't know how old the children are but what about various coins? You could do from pennies to half dollars and dollar coins.

The only way that I can think of to reduce the waste is to reuse the eggs. My mom had one set of eggs for us as kid for years. She bought nicer quality eggs that lasted years. For fillers, I found this article the other day on noncandy fillers that you might like.

Herb seed packets or other seeds that you can plant with the kids. I think you can fold the packets small enough to fit into eggs.

 You could make homemade caramels. I prefer the recipe from Annie's Eats.

You could get colorful paper and cut them into squares for folding paper.

Stickers, animal crackers (for little ones), coins

We re-use eggs and don't buy grass.
