What's new?
Kiley is crawling! Well she has the army crawl down and this diving thing, she can get her knees to move a few times then falls. But I'll say she's crawling, because she basically is
She loves to stand though and she was standing holding on to her exer saucer and my Mom was right behind her but she fell down and got her first big bruise on her little head. My mom felt SO bad but I told her it's fine, everyone gets bumps and bruises!

yeah we had to switch out our coffee table for ottomans since she pulls herself up and holds on. after one time of falling down and almost hitting her head, i ran out and bought them. we aren't full blown crawling yet because she would much rather have us 'walk' her over to everything or she rolls herself to it. we may have a walker before a crawler.
nothing else is really new. she is doing better sleeping again and will go about 8 hrs before waking up and wanting us but we are trying to be consistant enough by putting her back into her crib instead of sleeping with her. although i won't lie, if she wakes up around 5:30-6 on sat/sun, i go onto the couch with her since i know she'll sleep till 7-7:15
i can't believe my girl is 8 months today! it's unreal.

Riley is starting to test us. She tried to grab the bathroom plunger and I said no, yucky and moved her away. She immediately crawled back, waited until I looked at her, then reached for it again. She did something similar with a toy at playgroup - I told her not to put it in her mouth and she would put it right up to her lips, wait for me to look, then open her mouth to put it in.
I think she may finally be cutting her first tooth! I can see a clearly defined white line across her bottom gums, but she won't let me feel for it.
This morning I pointed to my nose and her nose a few times saying "nose" and after when I asked her where my nose is she pointed to it right away. It was probably a fluke, but I was proud
Go Kiley! Jacob army crawled forever! He'd come home from daycare and his shirt would be so dirty b/c he dragged himself around all day! It's a really effective way to get from one place to the next, so she might not want to get up on her knees for a little while.
Jacob is in the process of tripling the number of teeth in his mouth. He's got two lonely ones on the bottom and, for the past two weeks, has been cutting 4 top teeth. They look huge!
He loves walking around now, but hates shoes. We bought him his first pair yesterday. I wanted to try Robeez or something to ease the transition, but he didn't tolerate those any better than the regular 'ole sneakers, so the guy at the Stride Rite store was like, "just break his spirit with these sneakers and skip the middle man." LOL! but still
If I have any advice for mamas, it's to put soft shoes on your kiddos sometimes to assimilate them to the feeling. My little guy didn't ever wear shoes, so it's a bit of a shock to his system.

Xander use to hate shoes, until he learned that he could walk outside when he wore them. Now he throws his shoes at me to show he wants to go outside. He will then go get my shoes and try to put them on my feet.
