Ground Covering questions

Does anyone have any experience growing ground covering.  We currently have what I think is called green clover ground covering and pachysandra in part of my backyard.  The part that the ground covering is growing is mostly a mulch area that has majority of shade from the trees.  Last summer was our first summer in our house and I started my first vegetable garden.  Since I was always watering the garden I never watered the ground covering.  I didn't even think I needed to to be honest.  Well the half the pachysandra died because that got more sun.  The green clover are doing great.  I would like to dig up some of the green clovers and move them to the where the dead pachysandra is and hope that it will spread naturally overtime.  I am just not sure what the right way is to transplanting them is.  Has anyone done this before?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
