Hi there, I just have a question for you (and anyone else who looks at this post and wants to weigh in). I know that you used to work in a real estate office. DH and I are planning on moving and will most likely be looking with a broker. How do I negotiate broker's fees? I know that they work hard and deserve to get paid for their time but I also find their fees to be very steep. Any ideas on how I can do this respectfully while not over paying? Thanks for any advice you have.

Re: *maggiednm*

  • Hi Carrie! You just ask if their fee is negotiable. Most agents have a range that they are comfortable with. The broker I work - we usually try to do around 12%. I know it seems like an insane amount, but agents do work very hard as I've come to realize. Some agents have relationships with the owners so the fee is paid by the owner (not you). I'd be happy to help you if you're interested in working with someone you 'know' already. email me lizlindenhovius at levelgroup dot com
