**** tracy- re: celiac's

hi!  so sorry to hear about your mom.  my big big sister from my college sorority was diagnosed a few years ago and has a great blog of recipes and restaruant menu items that are gluten free.  i know the beginning of a gluten free diet can be overwhelming and you are getting bombarded with information, but this might be a good source now or in the future.  especially if you are ever in nyc and want to take your mom out to dinner!

Re: **** tracy- re: celiac's

  • Thank you!  I have been scouring the interwebs for blogs and recipes for her.  My aunt (her sister) was diagnosed a few years ago, so she will serve as a good resource for my mom.  My SIL has had it for years too - she just sent me a couple book titles.

The super sucky part is that my mom has no digestive symptoms whatsoever - so it's not like eating the food will make her sick.  I almost think it would be easier for her to avoid it if she knew there would be a host of digestive issues that came with eating gluten.  Her endocrinologist suggested she get tested because she recently was diagnosed with osteoporosis.  Apparently a gluten intolerance/allergy can prevent the absorption on vitamin D in your bones...hence the bone density issue.  Crazy stuff.
